Need more info in terms of where you are located, whether the driver is over/under 18, etc.

Here's a first cut at Driver Education (DE) schools which offer in-car instruction using your own vehicle.

Events at Summit Point, WV

BMWCCA Highway Safety School (nccbmwcca.org)
Porsche Club Driver Education (pcapotomac.org)
Fridays at the Track (summitpointfatt.com)

Northeast US, check us out at PCA CVR region. We drive at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen.

April 1 event is probably already sold out for Green / Yellow, but there are lots of dates coming up. I'd suggest go over to clubregistration.net and look up Connecticut Valley, Hudson Chmplain, and Hudson Valley chapters for starters (all 3 drive at Lime Rock). There are other chapters too that you can find through the PCA website.

If you are in New England, considering coming to the PCA Northeast Region's "Novice Day", May 5, at NH Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH: http://www.porschenet.com/JCMS/content/view/331/141/. Sign us ASAP because it fills up very quickly, and there is already a growing list of registrants.

+1 on local PCA. Plus you get to hang out with a bunch of Porsche gear heads.

Sears? Easy Method?

Ok.. maybe more info is needed!

Skip Barber schools located in Lime Rock, CT offer "street" and "racing" programs. Or, just check out your Local PCA region.

I am in Ohio.

Wife is looking to "race" her Corvette - complete novice - this could get real ugly.

Looking for track/driving experience that allows use of own car with a mix of class/track time.

You want a class in the NE or in NE Ohio?

You should just take a class in South Carolina. Seems like everyone else from Ohio is here!

by all means - sign up with PCA and do regular DEs as it is a best bang per buck. after you get initial experience you can try advanced programs like skip barber`s racing or Porsche schools but they all are at $3K-$5K area so, again, if you have time on your hands regular DE sessions are great way to learn.

I would also recommend to do a fair amount of autocrossing with PCA - NER, NCR run at Devens base Moore airfield - that will learn you how not to spin your car, control sliding, use throttle steering and all other important techniques which are difficult to learn at racing track due to danger of loosing car control. autocross helps to develop basic car control skills as nothing else, do not underestimate it. and it is fairly cheap.

what else is there - BMW club runs EVO AX school once a year, not sure when it comes to Devens this year if it does - but it is a great way to improve your driving skills and costs not overly much compared to other 'schools'.

PS. sorry - did not see Ohio part, I though you were in NE - new england. still all the same applies.

No better track to learn than Mid Ohio, in Lexington, OH....get on the PCA website....DE's there all the time, including OVR-PCA HPDE April 16th & 17th.
Good luck!

PCA is not the only organization that runs DE. There is also SCCA, NASA, SCDA. BMW clubs are very active.

it may worth to go to http://www.clubregistration.net directly and search there for all listed activity

There are also CORVETTE clubs if your wife would rather learn her corvette with OTHER corvette drovers.

There are many multimarque clubs, and organizations that simply put together DE days.

If you are looking for "race" instruction, vs Drivers ed, then going to a dedicated race school is best.
