Had PSE retro-fitted, what do I unplug for ON ALL TIME?
Hi there
PSE is fitted and it sounds awsome, love the popping on de-acceleration.
Regarding to the plug modification, well mine looks different with it been retro-fitted, so here is some pictures:-
Is it the connector I have put a red circle around which I unplug?

I have a 996 with PSE which is on/loud unless you switch it to the quiet mode. If the 997 is the same disconnecting that plug from the switch will make it on/loud all the time. If you want the switch to work, but don't want it to go quiet at the set speeds for "auto quiet" then there is a connection to the speedo that has to be undone. Again, this is for a 997 but I think they are bascially the same.

This may be a stupid question, but what are the auto quiet speeds? Personally I would love to just have it on all the time with the option to make it quiet if I need.. but I would settle for always on.
Do you know if there is any resulting potential for damage to the pipes or engine. I am not sure I fully understand the mechanics hear but my reference point would be a motorcycle where you either shorten or pull out the baffles. In that case you alter the back pressure and it can be harmful... of course purples up any chrome.
Any help would be awesome. Don't want to mess up my baby.

Just to clarify, I was referring to disconnecting the electrical connector (need to depress the wire clip), not the actual vacuum hose. If you want to pull the vacuum hose, then yes you'll need to plug it up. Easier just to disconnect the electrical connector. Just my 2 cents.

I don't recall the exact numbers, but between 25 to 40 mph (approximately), PSE in loud mode temporarily reverts to quiet mode. This is to comply with some Euro noise regulations.

To the OP, that install looks a little flakey to me. I'm not sure if you have a 997.1 or .2, but at least on the 997.1 the solenoid/plug controller is supposed to be mounted on an existing bolt, not zap-strapped to the intake manifold. Like the others said, if you want loud all the time, just unplug the orange electrical connector.
