Default daily drivers

just wondering who besides me actually daily drives these things..

I am about to roll to Destin Fl for the week (from STL). 750 or so miles. Wife, kids (i am 5.5 and my wife is about the same so our kids actually have leg room) and was just thinking to myself, who else actually does things like this, much less drives the crap out of there cars every day..

i DD both my 997's... didn't have any shame either.. end of day did 16k in 16 months in 997.2 and people were giving me crap about a "high mileage" vehicle..

i say drive it like you want to, the 997 chassis makes a great DD... tons of space for luggage as long as they are in softsided duffle's (4-5 in front, and 2 behind the rear seat backs if you dont have BOSE.

-riley

i once did 2100 miles in 48 hours in a 997 and it was fine, no problem at all even through the worst weather (really bad rain and ice and snow)...

I DD my 997, 30 miles round trip everyday. Weekend I may sometime put in another 100+ miles. No problems up to now, I do have an Audi if I need more room and/or taking a long trip where I may be worry about not having a spare.

I don't know about the crap part but.........I've driven a Pcar most everyday for last 25 yrs.......Wisconsin winters included.
Life's too short......I enjoy driving way too much.

Porsche 3-4 days a week, I take a Volvo wagon (marshmallow car) when I need extra room for photo gear.
One of the reasons I got an S, not a GT3. A GT3 for a daily driver sounds good on paper, can be a little tedious in stop and go, getting in and out for repeated stops, etc. 30-40k miles per year. Gaak!

And some days... I don't have to drive at ALL!

I did the first 18 months of ownership including two Canadian winters. No problems whatsoever. At 25K miles I have decided to give it a rest (I have other cars to drive) for now.

DD for sure. I don't have that far to go so it keeps the miliage down. Actually it's better for a DD than for long hauls.

Not sure I'd want to be a DD in LA traffic but in Austin, I drive the TT 3 days a week (50 miles RT) but leave early in the am and home by 4.

the 997 is a purpose built piece utilitarian hardware. it has all the capabilities to be used daily. i'm delighted to see Porsche reach out with its latest ad campaign emphasizing its user friendly practicality.

85k on my dd and it hasn't missed a beat.

I also DD my 997 during the work week (approx 3-4 days out of 5). Saturdays and Sundays are relegated to the "family" 4 door

To date w/49,000kms, no issues and loving it!

I DD, about 13k/year. I drive it every chance I get, unless it's raining, my car is clean, and there's another car free

yep, DD for a 12 mile commute 3 days a week and 220 mile 2 days a week. the 6+6 commute in traffic isn't that much fun but the 220 mile is one of the best parts of my week.
