Pictures please.

I haven't noticed that effect with my car. Maybe I need to paint mine turquoise.

If you want to share how you *really* feel about Fox News, take a look at this Jon Stewart LIVE On Fox News
lively discussion on Huffington Post.

Almost 24K, yes twenty four thousand (!!), posts in less than two days.

Not sure what is really "wrong" with the article. Other than the lack of short term commitment part - but statistically - it is probably right there as well. I know a few people that have Porsches that fit that mold perfectly, they also buy BMW's, Mercedes, etc to help with the ladies for the same reason. Is this really surprising? I seriously fail to see how this is a conservative/liberal oriented article and also fail to see where it is wrong entirely.

IMO, there are two distinct classifications of Porsche Owners.
1) Those that want the image of driving a Porsche (for whatever reason)
2) Those that love driving a Porsche

More and more, as I pass fellow p-cars on the road, it seems that #1 is in the majority.

From the Article:
They looked into the age-old question of whether a man with a Porsche is more attractive to women than a man with – say – a Honda Civic (in much the same way that a peacock with an extraordinary tail might be more likely to hook up with a peahen).
The clear and unequivocal answer was -- yes.

But as with all things, the devil is in the details. The researchers discovered that the Porsche owner was more inclined to pursue short-term, non-committal sexual relationships. The Honda Civic owner was the “marrying kind.”

What's wrong with the article is the fundamental misunderstanding of evolutionary biology - but that should hardly be surprising when business types/social scientists and journalists start looking for simple answers to complex biological relationships - who cares if it's right , it gets them published and/or makes good copy. But that's maybe what people crave because they don't want to take the time to understand something. I could write fifteen or twenty paragraphs on why the article flies in the face of scientific understanding - but who would read it? Better to quote J.B.S Haldane, "The Universe is not only queerer than we imagine, but queerer than we can possibly imagine."

FWIW, as a single guy, I considered this female angle when I bought my car and have been keeping mental notes.
Net-net, it's worked out to be a wash, but I have come to consider it a divisive feature if introduced too early on (even if accidentally).
Now, I figure if they like me in the VW, we can have fun with the other car later. I consciously avoid showing it early.

Do you go here? https://rennlist.com/forums/politics...ntroversy-212/

If not, don't waste more time. You'll love it. Participation is thin with a dozen or so "conservatives" who agree on everything and maybe two or three others who because they won't fall in line precisely are "libs" and "lefties".

The problem with the political forum is that the guys that post there don't know how to switch off when they come back to the regular forums and post crazy stuff in nonpolitical threads. Or they think it's normal to go with personal insults straight away like they do in the politics forum.

What misunderstanding? males flash color, size and wallets (nest building ability? providing food?) wether you are talking about fish, lizards, birds or mamals. They looked at human males buying porsches and corellated that behavior with other creatures that share 90% of our dna and rely on sexual reproduction.

God bless the vervet monkey study. If ever there was proof of evolution, this is it.

Is there a study of the women that are attracted to men with flashy cars?
Is it the actual car, or the assumption that any guy with a hot car is a good potential funding source?
Do Bentley guys get stalked more than Porsche guys ?
Do 22" aftermarket wheels send a signal of power ,strength or added ....prowess.
Does full leather have a payback, beyond resale.
Inquiring minds need to know.
I'd ask my wife, but I've seen that look of pity already this week.

It is just a study but I do believe people who have money and time will do more things than people who don’t.
There are other studies I find more interesting like;
Drinking a bottle of beer a day is healthier than drinking a glass of milk.
Iphone users have more sex than android users.

The short answer is: some are, and some aren't.

There are three, primary motivators: power (the ability to influence others); affiliation (the ability to socially bond with others); knowledge. These markers are not mutually exclusive and are generally blended. The Peacock/Porsche article looked at the purely "power" side of the ledger. Those who like to display power attract those who are drawn to displays of power. Likewise, those who like social connections look there. Those motivated by "knowledge" are often marginalized by the two other camps.

As the authors' looked at this study from a capital-goods marketing perspective, they looked at "power". If they had wanted to do so, social media use would have pointed toward "affiliation" motivators. This has all been done many times before.

Besides, the article clearly based it's claims on well grounded, peer reviewed research. Trumps your wife picking the car and all that anecdotal stuff.

btw, what is the track record of keynsean economics applied in full force? Thats right- the great depression and the great recession. So many parallels between the two its worth writing a paper on. way to go socialists.

Did Ryan Dunn fit that description?

Yeah let's keep the politics away.

Notice how the guy sometimes said "Porsshh" and sometimes "Porsch-uh" while the gal just said "Porsshh"?
