Fwd to 7:30, the emblem does serve another purpose.

I used to do this on my 993, but now I place my greasy, palm print a little further forward as the latch seems to be close to the leading edge of the hood. Maybe I'm imagining it, but the metal seems to give a bit when I use the ornament as my push point. I wasn't going to post a serious-ish reply on this thread, but the 993 video broke me. If you REALLY MUST fret about your prints on the hood after closing, a spray of detailing mist and a motherf#*@er cloth will erase any evidence of your presence.

I'm afraid the term microfiber has forever been lost from my brain.

One can't simply 'drop' the bonnet from, say 12' - 24" inches, b/c the spring latch is too strong. Solutions?
That's the least of your worries. You ought to get a large bubble case and put your car inside. Do not forget to put inside a box of desiccant. Of course, the bubble must have positive air pressure maintained by a filtered air system. The bubble should be inside an AC-controlled environment, your garage, or your living room, if you prefer.

Enjoy your exhibition-only car jewelry!

Just spent 6 hrs detailing the Pcar. And I figured it out - I'll keep a box of Kleenex's in the frunk and use one every time I close it.

Nah... Kleenex is abrasive. Soon you will have billions of micro scratches. The bubble storage idea is in your future.

Default I just push on the crest but a week ago the thin metal emblem came off on my palm.

It's not a clean debadge as the metal base is still there. Any adhesive recommendations for reapplication?

Forget MF pants.
May I suggest velvet pants?

The lock is below the crest, of course, almost at the edge of the hood, so that's where I push. If feels very firm there with no give. It's also easier to use one hand than two, but that's just me.

For those of you using knees or other body parts, I don't know what to say.......
