Default Laser Mount experience

Does anyone have experience with mounting or operation of a laser jammer on the 997? I have been looking for some definitive source that explains the mounting applications and usefulness for this car and all I can find is sales pitches and shaded opinions. Any help there??

Find a pro with a ton of installation experience in your area.

Mine are normally mid height in center of grille/bumper areas, rear is at the plate frame.

But be realistic in your expectations - this is not military grade stealth - tickets may eventually come.

Laser heads in the intakes, or in lower corners of dash/windshield (we have tested this mounting location with very good results against LA and Stalker gun). We would be happy to give you some help, even if we don't sell the product. The reason is this area of customer and installer knowledge is very poor, and the more people we can educate about it the better. Bumperplugs is right…. if you want a pro to do it, look for someone that actually owns a gun and can test installations. Making it extra pretty can be very bad, and some pros are more concerned about pretty than effective.
It IS possible to get a system set up that will jam to within 100 feet (or a little less) to the gun (any gun) - and looks nice. We have been doing it now for about a year. Lots of installs. So far not one reported ticket (knock on wood)
So send me your questions… happy to answer.

The question is more: what do they look like.
Every installed emitter package I've seen looks like crap in my opinion because you can see from 100 feet away that there are emitters installed.

Sorry to bearer of bad news, the Cheetah is garbage. It causes all kinds of problems and also induces a few critical milliseconds of delay. I can get a lock on a car even single time a cheetah is used. Makes it easy for both the installer and the police!!!

laser jammer is a misdemeanor violation. cops get pissed when laser gun lights up light showing that signal got jammed and most modern laser guns have such a functionality.
then cop will sniff up front of your car as his gun that never fails will fail 5-6 times on your car alone. then they will find emitters, you will have to hire a lawer and go to court wher you will lose.
do you need all that trouble? V1 radar shows laser gun from far away and screams loud enough so you can slow down just fine. it never failed me yet.

You are crazy if you rely on your V1 for lidar protection. The newer LIDAR guns have a very small beem and scatter doesnt happen as much.
The LI system has the ability to disable the jamming funtion until you reprogram the unit. So with the flip of a switch the unit act like a lidar receiver or parking asist ONLY. Then would have to prove it is a jammer. Talk with Cliff at LI about it.

Laser has such a narrow beam that you are not picking up the signal from the targeting of other vehicles. Once you detect a laser you are the target and have been caught. Nothing you can do without a jammer. V1, alone, will do absolutely nothing against laser. I would not recommend it.

I believe that some states, Texas for example, have made laser jamming a misdemeanor, but that isnt universal. If I get a laser hit and im speeding i slow down and turn the jammer off, then the police can get a reading.
Everything that i have read indicates that a laser detector is simply going to tell you in most cases that you have a ticket.
for some reason this topic always generates strong opinions..

On my turbo cab....K40 system

Front (buried in center grille):

Rear (just above plate frame - note - we have designed another bracket for this that will allow slight movement up a notch, but this works fine for now):

Absolutely correct. Since the beam is so narrow (typically under 30"), if your detector goes off, the police already have a lock. On our Stalker LZ1 police Lidar Gun, we can get a lock in about 1 second (unless a good jammer is being used). If countermeasures are used (jammer), then lock time can be from 2 seconds to never depending on the jammer used. Our independent testing concurs with the testing done by GuysofLidar.com - EXCEPT, we have tested a few more then they have. We have also tested the Laser Star and Laser Defense Pro. All of our testing is recent too (within the last 10 months). LI, LDP are still tops at jamming. V1 and Escort are tops in RADAR ONLY. Although we sell the Escort product, we would never send a customer away depending on that alone for serious laser countermeasures. It is awesome at radar though. We do not sell the LI, but do sell the LDP and it is very difficult to get a lock with the LDP.

For municipalities that do not allow laser countermeasures, the LDP and LPP doubles as a parking sensor, and has a manual that states the same (never mentions jamming of any sort). That way if ever questioned, it is only a parking sensor (similar to those used by active cruise and parking on Mercedes and Lexus). Since light can not be regulated by the FCC like radar can, they can not say a thing about it, as the law states that light emitting and receiving devices must accept any and all interference. Too bad those parking sensors happen to operate at the same pulse rate that the lidar guns do....lol

cartronics - thanks, that's interesting. We have the integrated/hidden escort jammer and detector in the truck for our x country trips and we love it. My car has the escort 9500ix and the blinder system. is there a better integrated/hidden detector/jammer out there than the escort device, i forget the product number?
cheers
