My condolences. Speaking for me and perhaps my spectral brother ^, that's one of the reasons why we live where we do (and pay dearly for it).

I went out this morning in Jersey City for groceries and coffee. The roads were totally clear although we had about 5" in the driveway.

I think I've decided that Bridgestone all-seasons are not going to be "all season" tires for me. I've got dedicated Alpina snow tires on order now. The bridgestone all seasons were all right in 1" of snow but I had to make a few runs at the garage in 1" of compacted snow (~4" of wet uncompacted snow) to get in the garage.

What is that white stuff and how did it get on your car?
I pray to God you didn't drive in it - must be terrible for the wax job.

I live in NJ and I’m not concerned about the snow. I am more concerned with the number of branches and trees on the road. This snowfall was early in the season, while most trees are still full of leaves. The weight of the wet snow on the leaves caused many trees and branches to topple. The roads by me are littered. I’d hate to have a good size branch get caught underneath and dragged for miles. Just think what that would do to that tree limb.

That little bit. Not worth a worry. Whats all the complaining about.
Slap winter tires on that bad buy, turn on the heated seats and keep having fun.

I honestly don't know why people fear driving these things in the snow so much. If you have multiple cars, I get it. But, I love driving ANYTHING in the snow. It allows practice of car control without beating up the tires, suspension, driver and everything. I feel like Colin McCrae in a rally stage!

When I was growing up on the farm, I'd take the snowplow and make a course in the field. I'd then spend hours in the 1982 3/4 ton rear drive Chevy diesel farm truck hammering around on it, doing, what I now know, are called Scandanavian flicks. I can't wait to practice in the 911! You guys are missing out in CA and FL!

Now the idiot drivers out there aren't really that fun to deal with, but life has compromises...

Welcome to Boston!
Don't worry to much. Put 235/265s snows on 18"s (not Chinese knock offs ) and drive. The weight is on the back where your traction is. Yes, at the end of the winter roads will get worse. So even if you bent a wheel it takes $120 to fix it. There will be a few days kind bad in terms of accumulation so wait a few hours to get it cleared.
I love snow!! Be smoooth! When you go downhill just keep it on the 1st to slowly roll it.
Master your skills so when you drive on the rainy track day you will be a champion.
