I keep coming back to this thread to look at your new GTS. What a beautiful car. Since you bought the GTS instead of a 991, you won't be constantly needing to explain to others that your new car really is a 911.

I have had my 2012 GTS for about 10 months and love it. I will be surprised if you don't love yours.

Hey thank you...same to you! Your car is gorgeous (aren't they all)?! It was love at first sight. I've had mine for 2 months, have 1000 miles on it and every single time I drive it, it puts a huge smile on my face!

Nice color combo! Do you find the red interior give off reflections on the windshield?

None. To be honest, the red interior freaked me out a bit when I first saw it, as in "I love that car and would buy it, but the red interior is a bit much..." (my 2008 C4S had a black interior). After I did some research on my iPad at the dealership and learned the history of the grey/silver exterior and red interior for Porsche, Mercedes, etc., I understood it and now totally love it (but I'm glad I have black floors/carpet). In fact, I have a friend who was going to go a different direction but when he saw the pics of my car, he went out and ordered the EXACT vehicle with all of the same options (he got his order in just under the wire for the last production run of the car, which is going to happen in May with a July delivery). Also, I put a medium tint on the car, which is great because you can see the red a bit (and it matches the red stripe on the back and brakes), but it's muted a bit from the outside...all in all, I love it!

Congrats on the new GTS !! that's a great car and indeed a gorgeous color combo; and quite historical for Porsche as well; All the way from the original "Porsche #1 K45-286", and some of the very first 911's, like this 1964 model I snapped at the Porsche museum below:

Attachment 627881

And btw, Carrera GTS + Cayenne GTS; Excellent pair. I have a pair of "S's" (997.2S ' Cayenne S) and love them both. Those who badmouth the Cayenne have clearly not owned one.

Many happy miles !!!

That car is seriously beautiful and you can so clearly see the lineage to the 997 with the sloped back, the shape of the front fenders, etc. IMHO, that's what's missing from the 991 but as I've said before, to each his/her own!

OK, as I posted a few months ago, one of my best friends fell in love with my 2012 4 GTS and so he ordered the EXACT same car (I sent him my spec sheet), which he impatiently waited for (calling me every day to discuss it) and which just arrived last week (he got his order in literally on the last possible day to still get the car before they stopped manufacturing them).

As he told me, he was like a 7 year old on Christmas morning waiting...and waiting...and wow, was it worth it! Here are a few pics of HIS car (there are some pics of mine earlier on this thread, along with my beloved Scout), and I'm very happy to say that 2 longtime friends have probably the only 4 GTS's with these specs (one in CA and one in MN)...we both love the cars and I hope all of you are enjoying yours as well!

Stunning rides... But having seen a 991 rolling down the street yesterday, there's no way I'd get a 997 given the choice. 991 aesthetics really gives the lineup the freshening it needs. Almost a 15 year old chassis! And no 997 outside of the mezger units will be deemed classics. Values will continue to fall just like the Carrera. Too many made. 9a1 innards will constantly be one upped.

Thanks. I'm not looking to restart this played out debate...as I've said in my posts repeatedly, "to each his own." My buddy and I have both driven the 991, and here in Orange County, I see them every day. And believe me, my buddy and I both have a choice in terms of which model we want to buy. That said, like many of the other posters on this board, we prefer the 997 look, steering, etc. I think the 4 GTS is, in fact, the ultimate 911. That may change at some point, and if it does, I'll go out and get a new one, or maybe I'll get a 993 or a 930, but for now, you enjoy the 991 and we'll enjoy our 997s!

I don't understand your 15 year old chassis comment. Please explain. Too many made???? Don't get that one either. Values will continue to fall. Really? Actually, I think you need to reiterate every comment below.

Stirring the pot? Too many 997s made? All that would signify to me is that the 997 is a very popular model since Porsche has always done a great job of matching their production to demand.

You're exactly the sort to whom Porsche markets the 991. What's under the skin be damned, as long as everyone knows it's a new model when you drive up to the bag-drop at the country club.
