Default Trimming front licence plate (ontario laws)

Does anyone know if it's legal to cut your licence plate?

I can't imagine that it is but thought someone might know. My front plate just seems so big and ugly and if I can trim an inch off the bottom and 1/2 inch from each sides you will still see the entire badge.

Thoughts?

You want to tuck it in the centre scooped out are in the front fascia, right? I would just bend the top and bottom to fit and somehow fix it in there. What's the worst thing that can happen? You get told to unbend it and mount it 'properly' like I did (and now regret).

Well, I just don't want a reason to get pulled over.

I seem to be a magnet to these guys.

I trimmed mine but I made a custom aluminum frame that covers the edge. It had to be custom because obviously it's now a non-standard size. When it's set-in like that and the edges are covered with a frame it's hard to notice that it's been trimmed so i haven't had a second look from any law enforcemnent.

Yeah that looks perfect ^^^

I wouldn't want to do it without the frame.

Did you make any others that you might want to sell?

Just knowing the government I can't imagine that it WOULDN'T be against the law to trim the plate...
and it's probably punishable by death....

Modifying your plate probably won't help in this regard.

Police practice "selective enforcement" and an excuse like a screwed up plate is the perfect reason to pull you over and run you for warrants.

Well I don't have any warrants. Lol.

However, I see dealership plate covers only display a portion of the plate.

Yours to discover... Or whatever it says ic covered by the dealerships name so what's the diff? Back plate is legit and I can say I smashed it and decided to cut it clean.

I'm going to do it. F-it, I will see what happens.

I'm away next week but I will post pics when I'm done.
