+1... the part itself is ~$110/ea from Suncoast plus $25/tire for Discount Tire (per Spokane) to mount them... that's far less then the p-dealer. Should be good for another 4-6 yrs. BTW, stay away from used ones for obvious reasons - it's a battery.

Or leave it and buy a $ 10 tire gauge until you need to change the rubber

Sounds like the Microsoft price. Try to get a non beta set.

Thanks for all of the replies! I think I'm going to go the Suncoast / Discount Tire route as I enjoy having TPMS when it works but I can't get myself to pay $1300 to get the dealership to do this.

I have an extended warranty (not CPO though because i bought new) and was told this wasn't covered because it's a battery. Total BS design though - makes me wish I never had TPMS to begin with!

I replaced mine when getting 4 new tires, earlier this year. I paid about $110 each and no additional labor to install. I had my 4 tires replaced, as mentioned earlier, and my dealer didn't charge me anything at all to do this. I don't have the exact figure in front of me but I know it was below $2k for 4 Pilot Super Sports and 4 TPMS sensors, including mounting/balancing and installing the sensors.

Quote sounds just about right for a dealer, just under $200 per sensor, $35 per gasket and stem kit, plus install and reprogram. FYI, battery life is read in months left and anything less than 24 months is considered to be on it's way out, i.e. will begin misreading/dropping individual wheels. Take it where you wish, not an overly complicated job, but you will always take a real chance of things going drastically wrong when you entrust your Porsche to some guy making just over minimum wage at a tire
store.

I ordered 4 replacement sensors from Tire Rack. Together with the Valve Kit and shipping, the total was ~$392. Installation at my local tire store was about $80.

I have a long relationship with the tire dealer, and watched from inside the shop as they put the Porsche up on manual jacks, and removed the wheels by hand etc. ymmv.

That works for your tire pressure but you can't check your oil level with your dash lit up with the warning message.

How/where do you get at the battery life info?

What is interesting is that my car is a very early 06, the first year that TPMS became available, and except for this recent glitch, which may or may not be battery oriented, it's operating perfectly...I would think I have the oldest batteries here.
I had ordered an 05, and just caught the changeover and added the new option.
My plan is to change the sensors with an upcoming tire change..but so far, so good
As they say..your mileage will vary.

I orderred the TPMS on my late 06 car and had to replace the batteries/sensors about a year ago. Cost was very reasonable by ordering them from Sunset Porsche in Portland, OR and swapping them in during a normal scheduled tire replacement.

My dad took me to discount tire in downtown Flint, MI when I was a young lad. There was a guy by the name of Mr. Cole that worked there. I remember I was poor and one of my tires had some side wall damage so Mr. Cole hooked me up and gave me a free used tire. I have never purchased a set of tire anywhere else but Discount Tire. It's a well run company and they really know how to hire good friendly people.

Was passing on the info as a Porsche tech. That data (along with every other aspect data wise) is accessible with our scan tools for diagnosis of TPM system.

Keep in mind that when one sensor starts to go the others will be failing soon thereafter. I was getting tired of one sensor being a little slow to show me the pressure.
