MP3 software update?
Hello,
I read about the software update for the PCM to enable the MP3 cd read capability for my 2006 997S. I stopped by a Porsche dealer to get the update, but the dealer told me that there was no such update for 2006 cars equipped with PCM.
Is there some sort of service bulletin number I can provide them with?

had the chance to look at https://identifix.com/Default.aspx and see what they had listed for a 2009 Porsche 2S a week ago ... and looked thru almost evert TSB ... and did not see anything mentioned ..although in hindsight there were not many TSB's ( when compared to say - GM vehicles )
In Ontario ( or in our town in Ontario ) with a library card we have access to Chiilton manuals for TSB's - but they don't list Porsche ( my Carlsbad CA Library also lists Chilton ) ... might other library's list something like Alldata or Mitchell1 ? Your better indy garage has access to these data bases ....
MP3's would be sweet .... funny how long car companies take to understand the change in music ...eh?

It's not a software update, but a unit upgrade in late '06/07/08. The whole PCM was updated.

Alexb76 is correct. You need h/w for MP3 play back. I thought MY 2006 and later had PCMs w/ MP3 h/w decoding. My 2005 997 had the initial version of the PCM which doesn't support MP3 play back.
I thought PCM's w/ telephone (telephone buttons) option capabilities (ie 2006 and up) also included MP3 h/w. I guess I'm wrong if your 2006 can't handle MP3 CDs.
By any chance has your PCM been changed to an early version (ie. no telephone option)? What version PCM software is currently running in your PCM?
