Default opening frunk on flooded car - tried jumping, no go

Before geico takes my 997 (flooded by sandy), i want to empty out the luggage compartment. I tried jumping the frunk post in the fuse box but no go...

Ideas? I have very limited tools as they are all in my destroyed basement..

Use the manual pull wire.

Just what I was going to say. There's a wire cable hidden in the front fender well. Pull it (might need a good pull) and that will manually release the frunk. In this picture, the fender liner is already removed.

Sorry to hear about your car, but at least you're OK.

didnt the .2 get rid of this feature? (i think there's a thread here somewhere as well but) a fellow trackie locked his key's in frunk once, but an hour of disassemby later, still couldnt find the pull wire no matter where he looked or what he took apart.

The wheel lock is IN the frunk so I cant remove the wheel...

Sad circumstances but interesting thread. It reminds me of some great neighbours we had as a kid where the wife was up on the roof cleaning gutters and repeatedly asking her Altziemers husband to bring back the ladder that he'd taken away. He finally got frustrated and barked "well just go ahead and get it yourself". Sad but hilarious in the right light.

Can you reach up inside the left front wheel well and give the cable a yank?

Worst case go and borrow a wheel key off another P-car. I don't think they're unique to each car.

May not be unique to each car but there are enough variations that a random match would be pretty lucky.

That's one of the reasons I took the wheel lock out of the frunk and put it in the glove box.

That's one reason I always ordered four lug nuts/bolts with every new car. Only one person ever asked for the locks when I sold/traded a car.

It's hard to imagine living through the mess that so many people now find themselves in on the East coast.

You can get to the emergency release wire without taking off the wheel. Just just up the front driver side so you have some room to work with, remove the fender well and you are good to go. I have done it when my battery died with the wheel lock key stored in the "frunk". Sorry to hear about your car!
