Default Sooo my car has headers - now what?

Put my car up on jacks yesterday and noticed it has headers, not the stock 997.1 (horrible) exhaust manifolds. Look very similar to the X51's. Rest of the exhaust looks stock.

Was thinking about 200 cell cats (maybe Fabspeed cross pipe), but I have no clue what is best with the headers - I really dont want a loud sound.

I have read up on the advantages of mufflers, cats, headers, intakes. My understanding is that the intake, headers, mufflers would be marginal increases mostly at higher rpms - but the cats have a more significant improvement maybe with a chip.

Any advice on mods since I have the headers ?

Is your car a 3.6L or a 3.8L? If it's a 3.6, then you might have the stock headers which look similar to the X51 headers. The X51s have larger diameter pipes.

Stock 3.6L headers:

Your picture is of two different headers - top one is 3.6, bottom one is 3.8. You didn't say if you have 3.6 or 3.8.

Mhh, to be honest, I'm not very keen on Fabspeed exhausts.
Have to retrieve the link, but it was on an Italian cars (Ferr or so) a guy was very unhappy and shared a very well argumentad article that sounded like some kind a proof and a link to a regular internet site selling the same **** (ok, ,ay some be effective) to Europe or "pseudo" well known dealers in the US. When it comes to me, prefer AWE or FVD exhaust. Just my 2 cent
'll try to find the link I'm talking about...

Is that really a 3.8 header on the bottom of the pic above? Looks a lot more restrictive than the 3.6 header. If that's what's on my car, I'm upgrading!

The 3.8 headers look fairly bad. The X51 are a vast improvement but you need to clean up the internal metal work on the X51's welds. I did this before I installed mine back in 2007.

See some details here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...we-cats-2.html

Learn something new every day on Rennlist - thanks for clearing it up !

3.6 btw. I can see now why the X51's are more of an improvement for the 3.8 than the 3.6

I have the combo of X51's and AWE 200 Cats and absolutely love them.
