Hot Smell

Hot Smell
Whenever I park my car (2008 C2 with 30000 miles) in the garage after a drive (30-40 mins), I smell something hot eminating from the engine (through the rear deck lid). Today was no exception, (temperatures were around high 30s and low 40s). There is no smoke, no strong burning smell. Just hot smell. Is this something normal?
They replaced the clutch/pressure plate and supposedly the flywheel about 1000 miles ago. Maybe related?
I am relatively new to these cars (moved from BMW M cars).
Thanks

After parking mine with hot engine, I always open the engine compartment in the garage to let it cool a bit faster. Not sure if it helps with anything but just a habit.

I mean there's 400+ lbs of hot engine back there, exhaust, and drivetrain, brakes and tires.
I'd be worried it you didn't smell anything hot back there.
Also, the engine compartment being in the rear tends to run hotter than front engine cars.
Just to be sure all is well check the vital fluids.
Oh, do not open the engine compartment cover. Leave it closed. The compartment fan comes on and blows cool air *down* through the engine compartment to keep heat build up in the compartment at a tolerable level.
If you want to help the car cool quicker you can put a small fan in the garage at the front of the car set the fan speed on low and aim the fan to blow air under the car. Doing this even in a closed garage really cooled my Boxster down much faster when parked in the garage after a run.
