The chip is tiny (about the size of a pinhead) and on the passenger's side. Should I just ignore it or get it fixed? Has anybody tried Safelite or have any other suggestions? If I have the windshield repaired can you tell or will it be basically good as new?

SO irritated too many trucks on the 15 freeway to Vegas!

At about 2500 miles, I got a significant star on my windshield.... about 1.5 inches in dia.

The good news is that I did not get a dent on the hood of my car. I consider myself lucky.

I got the star repaired by Safelite with acrylic resin. Two years later it does not look as good but it was free of cost and I can now decide to replace the windshield when the next event occurs. If it is the size of a pinhead I would just forget about it!

I took one to the windshield this summer. I'm not sure how it works in CA, but in MA the is no deducible for glass. I tried Safelight on another car I owned, but the chip was in the line of sight and even filled it bothered me.

As long as the chip is not in your line of sight, I wouldn't worry about it. I've had my rock chip for 2 years now.

Besides, as soon as you get your new windshield, a new rock will find you.

If it's in your line of vision just replace it. Make sure you ask for a tech that has done Porsche in the past. I like the piano wire method better than the saw. Mine was done at the beginning of the year and they did a good job. Safelite....

Thanks for the suggestions all. I guess I'll wait to get another rock chip before I have Safelite repair it. I should feel lucky that it isn't in my line of sight.

Ecostellodo, you're right on the money when you said that a new rock will inevitably find me if I replaced my windshield, haha!

Usually when something like this happens, i just get loctite bullseye windshield repair. Its about 8 bucks and not too hard to install yourself. You want to do this soon though before temperature and moisture could settle in and induce web cracks

Install clearplex. After my windshield cracked, I replaced it and protected it with clearplex. Now the clearplex
is all beaten up and needs replacement but the OEM windshield is pristine underneath due to the protection. The clearplex is even avulsed in one area by a huge stone that would have without a doubt destroyed my replaced windshield.

It is the first of many. The alternative is worse--having the windshield replaced. The factory seal is always the best.

I always repair them if they're not in line of sight and not by the edges. If you leave it alone there's a decent chance it will spread.

I had to replace my windshield first week of ownership. Big star pattern, center of vision driver's side. OEM replacement has lasted 6 years, though it has many mini pits that glisten in the right light.

If it's too small they won't be able to do anything to fix it, I have the same problem. Think I going to install the Clearplex, around ~$200
