First DIY: Mesh Radiator Protector
The problem is that the 997.2 radiators are unprotected and would benefit from some protective mesh. I saw this DIY in another thread and thought I'd give it a shot.
The materials were ordered from CustomCarGrills.com and cost $53 delivered. I didn't use the goop so that was $6 I didn't need to spend.
1. 6x36 Small Diamond mesh - Black $23.99
2. Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim - 10 Feet $7.50
3. Automotive Goop $5.99
Step 1. Remove the vertical bar which prevents the mesh from a flush fit. It's held in place by clips so no tools required.
Step 2. Cut a cardboard template to determine the correct shape and size. The template slides in and out through the horizontal slats so there's no need to remove the bumper.
Step 3. Once satisfied with the shape, cut the mesh and line with the neoprene edge trim. You may want to order two pieces of mesh in case of an oopsie.
Step 4. Fasten each piece with four zip ties and clip ends flush.
Any questions? Dave

What a great idea. When I first bought my (5 year old) C2S, and performed a detail, it was amazing the quantity of debris vacuumed out of the area in front of the radiators. Rocks, asphalt, leaves, trash..... took a good 30 minutes with a small vacuum attachment to fish everything out. I even had to use an air compressor to blow stuff loose from above and behind the grill area.
It's a wonder these radiators don't get a hole punched in them on a routine basis.

That's a great idea. I just got my first Porsche back in August and couldn't believe how many leaves had collected in that area when I was detailing the car for winter lay-up this past weekend.
I was in the process of trying to find the right extension tool for my portable vacuum but maybe I'll just do this mod.

Looks great, and you'll be pleased with the protection.
I did the Brombacher inserts about a year ago. Unfortunately, the front bumper has to come off for installation. I removed the vertical bars, too. Looks much better, IMO.
I use an air compressor to blow out the debris that manages to get through the grills. No more cigarette butts and twigs, though!

The mesh has the code "Sm_Dia_B6" on my invoice and is described as 6x36 Small Diamond - Black. Price is $23.99. They also sell a larger sheet but you should be OK with two small ones. The trim code is Trim_Neo and is described as Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim and cost $7.50. dave

Here's the link to Brombacher in Germany. Nice folks to do business with.

Burning Brakes
Dave - that looks very, very nice and you can't beat the price. It's on my to-do list.
Couple of questions...
Did removing the vertical bar require that you remove the existing inserts? If so, how does one remove the inserts?
You used zip ties to attach the edge trim to the mesh, correct? How did you attach the completed grilles to the car?
TIA...
