Default Blown 997 Engine: What are these little ***** in the pan?

Original post here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...his-video.html

So last summer I blew the 3.8L in my 997s
We finally got the block apart and found a burnt main bearing and broken rod.

That being said, we also found something quite unusual. Little ***** of some unknown material???? They do not feel rubbery. They are grainy and somewhat hard, but you can crack them. Some areas there are chunks of them like they are melted together. They are in the oil filter and other places in the engine (oil side) Also quite a bit at the bottom of the pan.

Does anyone have any idea what these little ***** may be?

Looks like tar ***** you get when problematic oil, water and pressure come together...

Exactly what I thought when I saw them. Wonder if you can collect them up and get an analysis on them.

Good luck on your new motor. I hope its built better and won't blow like your first one.

Had you recently swapped oils from one type or brand to another?

Thats a good looking post-mortem, looks like what we see once every week or so :-)

My WAG is they look like a cam chain rail cover (hard composite plastic) fragments but if you tell me all the chain rails are intact then I'm at a loss.

Only used Mobil 1. Nothing else. Chain tensions seem in good shape.

Maybe that was the problem!

BTW, which exact 3.8 engine? What year/model?
