Does the 997.2 have fog lights?

No. No operable front fogs. The pullout on the light control brightens the left rear tail light (rear fog lamp). They seem to have deleted the front fogs because the DRLs are very similar in placement and function to fogs - they're always on, so no need for you to be able to control them.

When Porsche developed the Bi-Xenon headlights for the 997 they had no idea how effective they would be with distributing light so effectively near the car, as well as for distance. As such, they revised the design at the 997 facelift (MY09 with the 997.2) and completely eliminated the front driving lights or "fog lights." Due to safety regulations in many countries where the Carrera is sold they retained the rear fog light(s).

Which model do you really have? If your front fogs aren't working you either have a .2 or a broken .1

I'll chime in because I was corrected on a previous thread, which caused me to RTFM. The DRLs are in fact not always on, but are off when the headlights are on, thus they are decidedly not designed to have a dual function as fogs.
Also, and this is a pet peeve of mine, please only use the rear fogs when it's pretty thick. They are very bright (brake light level) and are hugely annoying where there's no fog out. Audi drivers seem to be the most prevalent violators. Not sure what their switch arrangement is.

No front fogs......FINALLY!!!
No real practical USE.
All states REQUIRE that headlights be used at night thereby "overshadowing" any possible forlight viable use. Foglights then, are only viable, have practical use, during daytime with a ground fog.
The idiot asians came ashore insisting that foglights only be enabled with low beam headligts also on and vehicles wired as such. Foglights = BLING. US manufacturers, reflecting their own level of idiocy, soon followed suite.
All of my post 90's asian and US vehicles, past and present, have had circuit modifications enabling DRL in some fashion, and allowing foglight use alone since daytime ground fog conditions are not exactly rare hereabouts.

The 997.2 (at least in the USA, as delivered only with BiXenon lights) do NOT come with front fog lights.
The way BiXenon lowbeams project, eliminates the need for a separate front fog light. (If they shipped a 997.2 with halogen front lights somewhere, they might offer front fogs there).
Fog lights are NOT the same as driving lights, and cannot be replaced with DRLs. Fog lights are much stronger and focused up to cut under the fog (that is why in many countries driving with fog lights on without there being limited visibility due to fog (200m?) is an infraction.
Foglights tend to be used in the USA as bling because drivers here seem oblivious to, and the licensing agencies in the states don't teach or police enforce, the proper use of fogs and the misuse of fogs.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say the 997.2 has A fog light.
Running 24-7 with front mounted fog lights on is one of my many pet peeves. My Mother does it and every time I am near her car I reach in and turn them off. She claims that she doesn't leave them on all the time yet after I turn them off, the next time I see her, they will be on again.
I should just disconnect them. She probably wouldn't even notice. They certainly don't prevent her from hitting stuff.
