Porsche...please make your engines beautiful to look at again..!
While subjective, in my view Porsche engines no longer are beautiful to look at. Consider how Ferrari dresses its engines, then puts them on display under clear covers for all to admire...bright color crackle paint, polished metal...lovely, high quality artful presentation
Consider too how Singer is dressing Porsche engines and engine compartments, even quilted leather..!
A Porsche engine is an engineering gem deserving of some best in class visual excitement.
Do you agree?

Perhaps. But I can't get a good look at it through that small opening. Even if they did dress them up a bit, you can see only 25% of the engine through that little hatch.
Whereas the entire top/sides of a Ferrari engine a visible.

I can't think of any 911 engine bay over the past 50 years that was glorious wonder to look at.
I'd argue that the 997 engines are pretty nice looking, you just can't see them well. The 991 is even worse, can't see the engine at all.

Yea tough to make look good when there is not much to see. I guess they could put some fancy/shiny cover over the engine bay. But that would take away from the "all business" persona of the engine.

It would definitely be nice to have a built-in display window for the engine ala Ferrari, but to me that is just icing on the cake. I'm satisfied showing people my big fat f'ing rear tires as I go by them.

Turbo, GT3, X51 engine covers look fantastic IMO. Yes, not Ferrari like, but we don't have access like that due to rear-engine setup.
991 is the fail, the only thing you see is a couple of fans, that's it!

I agree. It was disappointing when I popped open my engine cover to see, well, not much at all... The 991 is worse still.
When I was looking at Cayman's, I've seen a few aftermarket clear engine covers. I just don't know why they don't offer it as a factory option. I think it's stunning.

911 engines have never been attractive motors. the air cooled junk was just a big fan with some crap behind it, and the new stuff is just a crap load of black plastic with an alternator and an oil fill tube.
when do people look at their engines anyway? the only time i raise the engine lid is when i have to fix something.
