X-Country Road Trip to Fetch 2010 C4S
I'm well behind the curve here posting a proper intro to fetch a well-optioned and (new-to-me) 2010 that was originally sold in San Diego and spent a year in VA with the second owner who pilots large Boeing jets for a major carrier and is being re-assigned to the Pacific (poor guy!).
Long time Porsche owner here. Current car is one that I've owned for 20+ years (1980 911SC Targa) which I'm unsure yet if I will keep in the garage. I've been searching for a 997.2 4S for nearly a year.
I have yet to plan my route home from VA except to head a bit south to Raleigh, NC to have an Escort 9500CI installed and visit the North Carolina's Museum of Art's exhibition "Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed". A very special RL member has graciously invited me into his home; I expect to be on the road very early next Thursday and I hope to have a better handle on the weather forecast and the route that I intend to take back to NorCal; my goal is to stay off the Interstates as much as possible and head up into the northern states if the weather is agreeable...more on that later.
I'd love to run into other members but I know how difficult that can be when the itinerary is yet planned and changes will occur because of the weather.
I've already had Porsche OEM wheel spacers (5mm) installed, I'll be having the white stone guards replaced with black magnetic ones and the headlight rings wrapped in black. New Michelin Pilot Super Sports will be installed. And yes, white side lights are also going to be installed.
The vehicle is in perfect condition (PPI done by Lufteknic in Richmond, VA...awesome shop!).
Here is the build list and a quick pic...more to follow including trip reports...got to run to catch a plane.
Additional Equipment:
030 PASM Sports Suspension
176 Sports Exhaust System
24951 Deviating Carpet

Congratulaions, great looking car.
Also a special THANKS to the very special RL member that has graciously invited david into his home Some of the nicest folks I have ever met were Porsche owners!
Take plenty of pics of your road trip and post them here.

Sounds like the start of a great trip! I did something like that many years ago--chose to avoid the the freeways to the maximum extent possible. I believe I only had to resort to freeways about 5% of the time. It is possible, but you have to plan ahead well.
Best of luck. Keep the cell phone charged!

Thanks guys for the thumbs up!!!
Let me tell ya that it was pretty special getting picked-up at Dulles in the C4S: I never thought that white would make me smile but it is more beautiful in person and I had to walk around it a few times (and pinch myself) to make sure that I wasn't having a dream.
The original sticker was $118,555. The 6-speed and color seemingly kept it at a reasonable (tongue-firmly-in-cheek) lower than $120k figure.
I began reading the owner's manual last night after being awake for nearly 20 hours but I couldn't keep my eyes open...sheesh, I don't need no GD manual...the C4S feels so familiar and intuitive and all that I truly needed to know was where the PSE button is located and that was the first thing that Brett showed me...I guess little boys, even 767 jockeys, never grow up!
I forgot mention that I also have a set of the Rennline radiator screens which will be installed while the bumper is off for the Escort install.
More pics (and video...yup, I've got a GoPro) to come as well as what I'm sure will be many route questions.
Btw, if anyone is in the Raleigh, NC area and wants to join in the field trip to the "Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed" exhibition on Wednesday with Terry and me, you are more than welcome to join us (lunch and brew are on me).
And if you're wondering, when I parked the 911 last night in the garage and walked away, I glanced back a couple of times to admire a design that is truly timeless...still pinching myself here.
Off to the bank in a few hours to transfer funds...
P.S. Dan, I will be down in Santa Barbara on Nov 6 fetching my (much) better half from grad school: it would be great to finally make your acquaintance if you are in town.

You have picked the prefect time of the year to be driving through NC and TN. If you have the time you have the opportunity drive some of the best PCAR road in the US. If interested PM and I will provide you with more detailed info on the route. Once you get to Tellico Plains, TN you can jump back on I-40 headed West.

Congrats on the car! I actually called Brett after I saw this ad on our local CL but at that point he told me he had a deposit. He seemed like a really nice guy. Have a safe trip back and show everyone the interior when you get a chance - very cool.
A week later I found a great 2010 C2S as an upgrade to my 09 non S PDK. I needed to row through the gears again.
Enjoy it in good health!
