51K and no warranty for me
What happened to owning a car without a warranty? I thought these cars were bulletproof? I have a 09 4S cab PDK and loaded. The cost of a warranty is prohibitive like well over $6K. I refuse to lose sleep over it and my car runs great. Did a 40,000 service recently, new plugs, oil change and a very clean bill of health from Porsche dealer. If I'm wrong I will be the first here to admit it. You can pray for me but I think I'm ok without it. Thoughts?

35k miles, original owner, car has been great. No extended warranty. Have some money set aside for repairs or for deposit on next car. Nothing wrong with that.

$6K, is that per year? If so, I wouldn't either. If its for an additional 4 years, then its not a bad deal, imo. I did get an extended warranty from Porsche for $3.5K for two years. I did it because I can extend it for another two years after that.
Judging by the lack of complaints from 997.2 owners, its a pretty safe gamble to skip on the warranty.

Have no idea where you got that quote but it's outrageous no matter where it came from. I paid $2,800 for a 4-year/100,000 mile Lexus policy equal to CPO in coverage with no deductible. Same car as yours except mine is a coupe. Doesn't take much to run up $2,800 in repair bills on these cars, especially not over 4 years. And I can cancel any time with a prorated refund. I'm no worrywart but this is a small price to pay for insurance and peace of mind from where I sit.

Bought mine 23 months ago (at 42k on the odo), and have since put 20k on the car. I had a water pump and PSE exhaust baffle go bad on me, which I repaired for ~$2,000 out of pocket. I was quoted $5k for a 4 year, 100k warranty. From my perspective, it's hard to say what the "rule of thumb" should be for extended warranty, but with that said, I still sleep soundly at night w/o one.

It was referred to as a Lexus policy when I bought it but it's actually administered by Toyota Financial Services and called CCC (continuous customer care). It was bought from a Jaguar/Lexus dealership that also sold Fidelity which was almost $1,000 higher and had a $100 deductible for the same coverage. I asked the SM at my dealer if he had any experiences with the "Lexus" policy and he said he's had plenty and no problems. I'll find out myself sooner or later. Haven't had to use it yet.

Extended warranties are basically an insurance policies that the providers sell to make a profit. As mentioned, it is about sleeping at night and being comfortable with the decision. I believe there is no right or wrong answer here.
My car had 9.2k miles when the warranty expired. I decided to buy the costco warranty with 250 deductible. It covers an additional 60k miles or 6 years. I must admit that I was on the fence and debated the decision.
