My vote the cab. Wonder why.
Paid well well under $60k for same as the one posted same options. How many miles on it?

Cant go wrong with either! That said, LOVE the cabrio but only with the top down. I am just not a fan of convertibles with a non-metal top. I am amazed Porsche does not start making them more like the BMW 335 convertible. I would buy one in a heartbeat!

After my Mazda RX-8 started needing a lot of maintenance, I decided to look at a P-car. I test drove a few 911's hardtop and cab, and while I loved them I kept thinking damn I wish this rear window would pop up and make the car so much more practical. (I can only have 1 car living in NYC) Later that night I discovered that there is a Targa variant that does have a hatchback. I spent about 6 months looking for one (I wanted low milage, PDK and ventilated seats) and am pretty happy, although I can't drive it anymore due to a title issue from the seller I have yet to resolve.

Yeah the party line is that the fabric tops and the hardware to raise and lower them are substantially lighter than what goes into a folding metal top, and in order to keep the speed specs in line with the coupes, saving weight is the name of the game.
I like the fabric top too, and can see the history and family lineage especially when approaching the car from behind with the top up, but I do like me a 997 Targa too.

Echo those saying location counts. We're in Northern California and given our weather -- zero snow, just a few months of rain (unfortunately) and mild summers in which we rarely break 90 degrees -- the cab was a no brainer. The soft top is surprisingly quiet when up, which is only about 10% in my wife's face. Only in rain and bitter cold!

After nearly 20+ years of owning almost exclusively convertibles, I'm so incredibly pleased I went Targa. I'm amazed at the lack of wind buffeting with the roof back at 80 mph+.
I drove both examples, but found that for Texas' hot summers, I spent a fair amount of time with the top up on my previous convertibles, visibility was decreased, and quite frankly, as a long-haired woman, I hated the hair maintenance required once I had arrived at my destination. The Targa can be driven roof back/windows up with as little drama as a sunroof, and since my car is my DD, I have the ability to drive it essentially worry free in nearly any weather.

I totally agree. Just picked up the Porsche sales brochure (booklet) for the 2015 Targa. Wow, what a great design. Looks like the classic Targa that we all remember. It is definitely a 911 between coupe & cab. My only concern is the weight gain. Otherwise, very nice!

I love the cabrio, but may have been tempted if the TTS had been avail in targa
