First 911 experience

First 911 experience
So I thought I would post the experience of my first weekend after picking up my first 911.
I had a couple of posts on a Targa thread last week about getting pumped to pick it up and finally got to take it out extended on a nice Sunday afternoon. This was after a restless Friday night as I was excited to pick up the car.
So for the first 911 I ended up with an 07 911 Targa 4S. Lapis blue and sand beige interior. Fairly low miles and was a CPO. Pix below.
Sunday turns out to be fairly clear, albeit a bit chilly. After out w the family for lunch, I got a pass to disappear for a couple hours with the new family member. Took the car out for a mix of back roads and a bit of highway.
I now understand why people like to just go on "cruises" on back roads as opposed to the highway. I found myself much more relaxed in this car, enjoying the rise vs. pushing like other times on some of these roads with previous cars.
The highway was a bit boring as all it wanted to do was to go faster, and that wasn't really the point of the drive. I loved the available torque throughout the gears which helped me get used to running a bit more rpm's than I would in another car and came home with a huge smile.
Getting this car was a dream I had had for quite some time, and while initially I wanted an older air cooled model, I took the advice of some folks over there about driving several models. I found out the posters I had when younger wasn't what I wanted for this first 911 experience.
I am anxious to get involved w the local pca and meet some similar folks and to continue to take this out when I get some extended chunks of time.
(And please be patient as I chime in from time to time w newbie questions!)

Congrats! Great looking car! I too just got my first 911 (a 2011 C4) and am loving it. You're right, the torque throughout the gears is fantastic, and I don't even have an S. I hope you enjoy many happy miles with it!

I too just bought a 2011c4... and totally agree about power... even in the non-S 997.2, it is more than enough for me!

Thanks guys. I like that is sort of a subtle color
I had some nice weather (70s) today and now we get snow tomorrow and cold again. The car is going to make this winter take even longer!!

Congrats on a beautiful targa !
u will find that the car really comes alive around 4500 rpm and it loves the curves.
+1 on changing the side marker. Its a cheap mod and should be ur first.

Excellent! What's your color scheme? Mine's black and tan (sand beige). Loving the color contrast, and, of course, the car in general. I had a business dinner tonight after a day-long meeting and the drive home tonight, in light traffic, was such a great way to end my day. Couldn't be happier with my decision.
