Default Anyone upgrade their maps on NAV?

As I understand it the PCM may also need upgraded on top of the new DVD. How did it go, where did it you do it and what the $$ ballpark?

I have a 2006 C4S for context.

I have a 2008 and have not considered upgrading the DVD. I understand it is about $300.

My street is not on the map in my 2008 nor is the road to work. I thought of updating the DVD with current maps but the interface is so unfriendly that I'll just use what is on there and fine tune with Google Maps on my iphone.

Incidentally, I was talking to navtv customer support the other day and they mentioned that if I update the nav in my '07 C4S their modules will cease to work.

I doubt a Nav CD upgrade will hurt NavTV - probably a PCM upgrade would though. I had NavTV Sirius module on 2008 TT and upgrading maps didn't affect the radio.

When I got my '05 in '09 I was a bit disappointed it didn't have the NAV unit installed, but for a fraction of the cost I bought a Garmin with bluetooth and FM transmitter. Now that's lying in a drawer in the house somewhere, since I put in a TRanzit-Blu HF interface I use my iPhone for GPS. I don't bother with sat radio or iTunes/iPod either, just a $10/mo Spotify Premium account that lets me load up to 3300 songs in playlists when I'm on Wifi and sync them offline so I can stream them in the car without using my data plan. Technology marches on.

Yes. I have a 2009 997.2 and recently upgraded the maps. The nav update includes a PCM update as well. The new nav software has improved graphics, more map detail, updated points of interest, and in my case it no longer insists that I exit the highway and then get back on immediately!

i plan to get an update if one is available for my '12 997.2CS on my next trip to the dealer for oil service. I am usually in a hurry but since I am nearing the end of warranty, I plan to allow the car to stay as long as necessary to get available upgrades and a complete once over.

I bet that's why the navtv modules will quit working.

Here is a post I made on the subject early this year. It should help 997.2 owners: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...date-info.html

I think the cost and part numbers are similar for 997.1s, but I don't have those in hand.
