Thanks again everyone and now you know the story, at least as much of it as I know.

Tim
They are doing the same inspection they do to CPO a car at a reasonable price. They check the paint and body work, check the interior, confirm all electronics, a.c., etc function, check the tire tread depth, look for obvious leaks, pull all codes, check for odometer tampering and verify all recall items. The last one I had a dealer do was $350. It found a leaking front diff on a C4S. I passed on that car.

I checked out the car you are looking at online and it does indeed seem to be an impressive example. Worst case you are out $250 or you may end up with an outstanding deal. South Fla. is close enough for you to easily inspect and drive the car in person before laying down the cash. Good luck.

Thanks Breaking Bad,

I'm weighing whether I want to get involved with them - guess I wonder if the car is on their lot at all. Driving 3 1/2 hours to find out is hard but if it's there it would be worth a look. The car in the photos looks nice and a PPI at $250 is not much. Guess I could find out if they'll take it to Champion - 250 is cheap to get someone's eyes on it and have it inspected to make sure it hasn't been wrecked. It's a tough call for me as there already seem to be some odd holes in the story. I may contact them once more by email and go to the next level.

I'll sleep on it. Thanks for your input and at least now you know why my interest has been peaked!

I'd bet someone here who lives near by would be willing to get eyes on the car for you. I know I would do it for you if I still lived in the area. At least you would know if there were any obvious problems.

That's a good idea - I had thought of that but don't want to put anyone out. But I'll post a new post - so many have viewed this one that I thought maybe someone in the Ft. Lauderdale area might chime in. Guess I should ask.

Thanks BB

I didn't even read the thread but I seen Ft. Lauderdale and used Porsche. Don't do it, I live down here. I'm sure others will say the same. The only way I would by a used car down here is from either champion, the collection or a private party from a wealthier individual with a small fleet after it passed a PPI. It's bad down here. A 7k used Honda is one thing, used Carrera completely different. Its the fraud capital of the U.S. keep searching. Central and North FL are different stories.
