Default Odd Behavior with the gears when Driving

Taking the my 997.1 to the Indy this week but thought I would post what is going on and get opinions. At first I thought it was my imagination. I am noticing that when in gear - 1st or 2nd sometimes - all of the sudden it will feel like it loses power and gas pedal wont engage it further (the RPM's). The RPM's don't rev - it just does not do anything. Then it will come back to life. It does not last long but definitely noticeable. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if anyone knows what this could be.

Thanks-

Tony

Bad synchros? Clutch/fywheel? Have you had any grinding?

Ask your indy to check out the brake switch. Had a similar situation a couple months ago. Seemed to happen when cold as well.

New Clutch months ago and flywheel was fine. No grinding.

I too vote for brake switch. Unplug it and jumper the two wires and see if the problem goes away. It's easy to Donald is a little plastic button switch down by the brake pedal.

By the way what exactly does a brake switch do?

Could also be the same type of switch for the clutch.

This happened to me the other day, too. On a merge, no less.

Interesting. What was the feeling of it? It happened again yesterday to me in 3rd gear - felt like the car slammed forward like a loss of power then it came right back on. I will post what my Indy says. Appt is Wednesday.

That's exactly what it felt like. Part throttle, accelerating on an on-ramp in 3rd gear, when all of a sudden, around 3,000 RPM, it felt as if I'd suddenly lifted off the throttle. Throttle pedal then became unresponsive, so I clutched in out of instinct to conserve some momentum should I need to pull over, and the throttle came back online. Rev-matched to second gear, and all was well. I was starting to think it was a throttle body fault.

Another frustrating thing is that I can't make it seem to replicate the problem. It's an intermittent fault that seems to come out of nowhere.

It's happened about three times in the 3,500 miles I've driven the car so far.

Wow! I had forgotten about this issue until I read this thread. I had this happen to my '05 non S car. The brake/clutch switch replacement cured it. (I did all of them at the same time).
I recall that the behavior is very unnerving. Never failed, happened when I was overtaking on the bumper to bumper freeway at about 80mph!

Thanks for the replies. This will help me articulate the problem to my Indy. I thought it was in my head! It is very unnerving!
