How Many 05-07 owners still on original water pump?

06 C2S, my water pump started leaking at 45,000 miles, replaced it, the pulley wheels, thermostat and belt. If I were to do it again, I'd probably go with the lower temp, thermostat option.

Burning Brakes
Original on 2006 MT C4 Cab with 53K miles...
On your failure, was it a noise or a leak ?
Just wait for something to happen...then change.
What is important about this issue is that a leak is more benign, since there is a telltale trail and even dashboard indications (low coolant).
A bearing fail without a corresponding leak (this is possible up to a degree with a small block Ford-1966) is worse in that you can risk shedding impeller blades into the block and head water jackets, which is almost as bad (to your quality of sleep) as smoking out of the right bank ! At some point, the bearing fail will damage the seal too, so now you have both.
On the small block Ford with cast iron pump, the bearing failed to the point where you could watch it wobble (pulleys) and there was no loss of coolant (a 1966 GT fastback garage queen) for years, but this depends on the water pump design. But it was very noisy just the same.

06 C2S with 32K on OG. It may sound like a good idea to replace it as a precaution (due to paranoia), but my local mechanics always advise against touching something that's working fine. Regular inspections for leaks should be good enough to catch a potential problem.
