Default water pump change out

Gents, I have 55k on my 2009 c2. is the general concensus that it would be prudent to change wp? if so, metal or composite impeller?

Thanks. Lovin' my car

Default drive belt change 997.2

I see the diy's which pertain to earlier models. had the air box off looking for the tensioner pully for removing belt. can't find an obvious point.
is there a diy on this also, maybe I missed it? 2009 c2
Thanks again!

OE Porsche pump only. Never metal impeller.

Yes and use the composite impeller. The metal impeller will grind out the the WP chamber when it goes south and then you'll need a new engine block. I just purchased a WP, ~$289, and coolant from Sun coast parts.

And do the thermostat and serpentine belt at the same time.

Suggest you research this before you go here. May or may not apply to your application.

The water pump replacement and low temp tstat is part of preventative maintenance for the 997.1 engines. Never seen it mentioned in connection with the new DFI engines in 997.2.
Suggest the OP may be confused as to which engine he has.

My bad... did not notice that this was for a 997.2. Not sure about the WP in this case although I suspect it may have similar wear issues due to wear over time.

FWIW.....the water pump on my -09 C4S gave in at 43K miles and took the serpentine belt with it. Quiet a display of lights on the dash and needless to say you're done driving no matter where you are.

Agreed. Failures occur on the .2 but they are rare compared to .1.

Here is the 997.2 waterpump. It appears that if the waterpump goes south then the engine block will not be at risk . . . but there is still the concern of the plastic impeller blades breaking down and being circulated throughout the engine.

I am looking forward to seeing the first 997.2 waterpump DIY.

Torque values are:
7 and 8: 24 ft-lbs
9: 9.5 ft-lbs
10: 17 ft-lbs
16: 9.5 ft-lbs
