Mezger engine and no electric steering or PDK. No sir not even NAV. CarPlay iOS 10 works. Turbo, GTS, or what? I'm not feeling the grandpa 991.1 even if it has evolved and the used ones cost what the .2 997 go fast examples sell for. I'm pretty sure a 12 GTS would work or a Turbo....

I think the best buy out there is the 997.1 Turbo. Still havethe mezger. Have the updated AWD system. Easy to replace the PCM 2.whatever.

It will be soon enough. Manifold out And AOS in, not big deal there. Manifold back on and 1-4 bolts in attempting 2&3 tomorrow. Alternator back in but the wonky tensioner That turns when you move it backwards to slip on the belt....it dos this when I installed it.
My buddy is demeaning the 997 as he drives a 991.1 C4S. I'm just thinking Mezger Turbo .2 no electric steering etc. Manual and I want CarPlay. That's it.

The options I considered before replacing my engine were selling up to a .2, 991 or TT. Any of those options would have cost me more in cash outlay than an engine, and all of it would have eventually been lost to depreciation. I'm hoping that the RND engine with all its upgrades including Nickies and the optional IMS solution I got will be as durable as a Metzger or 9A1. It had better be!

But if I were to have picked one of those options I think it would have been a base .2 C2 manual. However, more power was not a priority of mine. If it were, a 997.1 TT would have been my choice. I don't think I would have spent the extra cash on a .2 TT, as I can't see much advantage in it over the .1.

The 997.2TT is not a Mezger engine. That ended with the 997.1TT. Nor is the GTS. If that's what you want, the 997.1TT is your best bet.

The 2009 turbo is a transitional car. It's still a 997.1 turbo with the Mezger engine, but it has several of the .2 upgrades. It has PCM 3.0, it has the option for ventilated seats, and it has the option for center lock wheels. The bumpers and exterior lighting on the 2009 are still from the .1 series. Many people used to consider this to be a wonderful vehicle because it has an updated PCM, but that PCM is now 8 years old and it's out of date also.

I agree the 997.1 tt is a great buy. Just tough getting the right one and mint ones are pricey now.


The 991S (12 and 13s) is great buy too.

997.1 Turbos should be selling in the upper $60 to low $70K. There are a few outliers whose premium is not always justified.

Yep, and if you can tolerate some mileage (50K or more), deals can be had in the low $60s. Find a car with 50K miles that has a solid maintenance history, recent spark plug change and the wear items addressed (tires, brakes, etc) and you could end up with a lot of car for a very good price. Ask me how I know.

I have a 2012 997.2 TT with 45k miles and it runs like new. These cars are pretty well built if you keep up with the maintenance they last a long time.
