Hi after I have just had a1k bill for new cables to the alternator & battery including the wiring harness. The car has been running fine for a whole two weeks!!!

Last drove the car Friday just went to go out and have the same problem will not start and the lights kind of flash. I'm wondering if it maybe the starter motor?

It's been one thing after another with this car only had it a couple of months and nothing but hassle. Whe I took it to the garage at nine excellence near gatwick, they diagnosed the battery problem with tj cables to the alternator. If it's the starter motor does anyone know how big a job it is ie 2/3hours etc? And cost of a motor?

Just tried it agai and got PSM Failure & PASM Failure has anyone got any ideas?? Flat battery or starter motor?
It clicks but nothing else and the warning lights are on the dash!

It's common to have to do a battery and or the starter if the cables have been going bad. When the cables go bad the voltage drops and the current levels go up. That wears out the battery and the starter.

Hopefully they tested the starter when they installed the cable since there is a lot of labor to remove stuff to access the cable. When the cable is exposed the starter is staring you in the face and if it needed replacement would take 5 minutes to remove and replace. I would ask and test the battery as well.

When is the last time you had the car washed? I had the same symptoms......after replacing the cables, alternator, starter and other parts I broke while changing these parts....I realized the water drains on the battery tray were plugged! I found water corroding the "power pin" underneath the battery. Compressed air to clean the drains, removed the battery tray and took a brass brush to the corroded pin. And put a good amount of dielectric grease on the pin and snapped it back into the connector. The problem has not come back in 2 years.

Sorry I don’t mean to bump such an old thread but were you able to resolve this issue ? Did it end up being the starter?

I have the same issue in my car and replaced the battery with a brand new one. It cranked fine for a few days now cranks very slowly and all the electronics in the car go a little crazy and car refuses to start. The previous owner who I just bought the car from stated that he replaced the B+ cable also which is known to be an issue.

I also was getting the psm failure sign while driving the car before this happened. I want to make sure the starter is the issue before I go ahead and spend money to replace it.

Change starter, and look into the charging wires. The one in the front can get really corroded. As well as the alternator wiring.

Take a look at the power plug under the battery tray. It's red in color. Unplug it and take a wire brush to the pole. Use some dielectric grease on the pole before you put the plug back in.

should I purchase a new Bosch starter or a remanufactured one ? Any opinions?

Ive heard some people having issues with the new ones.

I bought a new one off amazon. You could also go with FCP euro for lifetime exchange.
