Default To roll bar or not on new to me 997.2RS

So here it is. 8000 mile White with gold all stock. Love the way roll bars look in the RS but cringe at the thought of cutting carpet.

Should I leave it stock or put a nice roll bar in while it’s still at Isringhausen? Will it detract from value etc?

You can always pull up the carpet so it’s bent around the bottom supports. As for the upper shelf, FVD sells a precut version that’s around $500

I went through the same concern with my car. I asked many people in the know about diminished value. My concern was being period correct (FVD Clubsport copy, real Clubsport, gone for good) Remember, authenticity wise the cars came with them ROW. If you resell most people want the cage the same way you do anyway. I wouldn't paint it a crazy color, my rule is always, how would it have come from Porsche? So I did satin black. I did the FVD Clubsport copy, bought the aforementioned carpet shelf from FVD as well. Fit like a charm and I stored the original in the basement. I then sent the car and the cage to Colorado to a trusted race shop for painting and install. I was more concerned about getting the cage installed period correctly as well with welded in plates etc. I am sure Isringhausen can get it done for you, they know their stuff. Probably the right time to do it too, When she comes back you will be giddy..

Beautiful RS!

I have the BBI roll bar in my car and I really like it. The upper shelf is the only thing that needs cut unless you go with the FVD option that the Greek mentioned. Otherwise there is no cutting involved. It bolts to the front seat belt anchors and is one of the easiest roll bars to fit since it comes in sections. I did it myself in a couple hours and it is completely reversible. I had mine painted Carrara White.

Ohh snap.... Shots fired. Shots fired

(I left the harnesses attached in the back so I don’t get called a poser. But then people scoff that I actually tracked it)

Are planning on tracking it?

Mine has one in it that is currently covered in leather that matches the leather/stitching in the car. If I did not have one at this point I would not add it.

Generally I'd say no roll bar. But that's because I have a fear of hitting my head against the roll bar (even though it's behind you and not next to you). On a carbon bucket car, maybe less of an issue given that you're a bit more stationary in those seats.

I wouldn't be too concerned with cutting the carpet. While I'm sure the carpet is not cheap, I don't think it would go NLA anytime soon so if you wanted to go back to stock, you probably could.

Also as someone mentioned, here's the carpet kit from FVD.

I have your twin. Right down to the miles (8300). I have a white rollbar which came with the car.

Each to their own.. but for me I would only put a cage in a car I was going to track. Otherwise its just an impractical ornament that will either be neutral or negative on the resale (and you will have to somehow convince ppl that you put an aftermarket cage in but never tracked it - good luck with that!).

Beautiful car and congrats btw
