Waxer, I-told-you-so ribbing aside, I like the 987 spyder thread reference link.
I remember Faxer! Always liked him since he also had a couple of Fords.
But I remember him saying something like you had to have nice hair to own a Spyder, so that killed the deal for me!

There are exceptions to every rule. I vote you in! 👍

@dave292 @Waxer gentlemen, thank you!
I have been pondering the question for a while. I think that I am going to pick up a mint F40. I never buy red cars, but this is the only way they come and I rode in one in the UK a long time ago and never forgot the wild ride. More to come...

Happy to report that this summer makes it 8 years with my 997.2 GT3 RS. There is no substitute!

With regard to replacements, I agree with the 4.0 RS comments although I know that everyone gets funny about actually using them (I wouldn't).
Carrera GT is the most obvious replacement, but that is priced out of the range of many of us.

Here is a strange recommendation you didn't likely see coming from me...

McLaren 720S. A buddy let me drive his a couple of months ago and I had practically no expectations of the car other than I knew they were fast. What I was not expecting was such a dynamic driving car. That car is literally like putting on a Superman suit, and felt like the ultimate cheat code. The way it manages its performance is absolutely jaw dropping. After owning and experiencing the cars that I have (and have access to) it does take a fair bit to impress me. Let's just say that I was seriously impressed with that car, not only the way it performed but how it went about its business was equally impressive. I became a huge fan after that drive, and think that they really did a phenomenal job with that car.

I love the 600LT. Almost bought a 650S a few years ago. Concerns of reliability, build quality (hit and miss) and cost of ownership out of warranty killed it for me. Killer depreciation was the nail in the coffin.

Stiil want one but won’t buy one.

Two takes on this that question that i'm considering myself:
1. Hold out for a 992 GT3 (Personally I'd get one lightly used as they settle out instead of fighting all the allocation tumult). I think the 992 GT3 is aesthetically nicer and comes in a manual. The 991 doesn't interest me.
2. "Separate the streams" into a full track-only car and a pleasure car. For me this would be fully caged Gt4 or cayman based race car (for track days and old enough to run in Champcar or similar series) AND a really nice 993 turbo that my wife will actually ride in and will deal with rough city roads.

Keeping the pumpkin. But was looking for something to drive more often. Tend to like cars that are a bit rare. Decided on this. It really is a monster, very similar to my 289 FIA car that just makes me grin when hitting the gas.
