997.2 GT3 Maintenance Items -- PCCB Pads, Plugs, Battery
Hey RLers:
I have a 2010 GT3 that is about to go in for its annual service--the first during my ownership. The car does not see the track and has approx. 30k on the clock. Obligatory photo below.
I am planning to have the following general/basic items done so as to "clean the slate" so to speak: (1) engine oil / filter change; (2) brake fluid flush / replacement; (3) clutch bleed; (4) transmission fluid flush / replacement; and (5) diff bleed. Regarding items 3 and 5, I understand that the clutch shares fluid with the brakes and that the diff shares fluid with the transmission (being a transaxle and all). For these reasons, I understand that a bleed of both components is all that is required.
There are a few items that I would like to address while the car is at the shop, but I am unclear as to the "RL-approved" approach for each.
A.PCCB Brake Pads -- My understanding is that the 2010 takes the following pads: 997-351-948-90; 997-352-947-90. Are these part numbers correct for a 2010? The conversation about the difference between 07 and 08 pads has me slightly concerned. Any suggestion other than Genuine Porsche parts?
B.Spark Plugs -- Planning to have these replaced with Genuine parts as well. Does anyone have the part number handy? Any suggestion other than Genuine Porsche parts?
C.Battery -- I would like to find a Bosch battery but am having trouble identifying a vendor in SoCal that sells the right one. Odd, I know. What brand/specs do you guys recommend on the battery front?
Apologies for the longwinded post and thanks in advance!

Best bet for the battery in my opinion is the Diehard AGM from Advance Auto. Got one for my Audi S3, the H6 size. The site will suggest the H8 size for the GT3-but you will need to take the battery tray out, and weld a nut to the hole for the larger size H8. I put a Bosch H8 on my GT3 and that's why I know about welding the nut
The Diehard says "Made in Germany" The Bosch I got at Pep Boys but they no longer carry them. In any case, when it's time for a new one on my GT3 I'll get the Diehard since there are no Bosch distributors near me anymore-
Spark Plugs-there's a brand new thread on it-you can't find them anymote(Bosch Y5DDC)unless you go to the dealer and pay $39 or so a piece
Transaxle: Buy the Mobil Delvac
You can do these yourself, not hard if you work on your own cars. A lift helps of course
There's a tool to aid removing brake pads, that I haven't done myself.
There are DIY threads in case you decide to do it yourself
Best,
JB

I will look for the thread on plugs as $40 x 6 sounds like the wrong number for spark plugs. Porsche tax, I suppose.

Thanks for this. Really appreciate the guidance. Looks like I had the correct numbers for the pads. The plugs sound like a different problem altogether. H6 is the battery for me.
Thanks, JB! You've been a huge help. I will plan to pick up an H6 Diehard from AA. If it says "Made in Germany" on it, how bad could it be . . .

As an FYI you can use any brand H6 battery, and it will fit and work, but a0lso note that there are only a few companies making Batteries and they are just relabeled. So in fact if the battery has the exact same look meaning the Cap/Top of the Battery then it is the same manufacturer.
For example, the Walmart Platinum is the same as the Die Hard Platinum, is the same as the Autozone Duralast H6, which is the same as the Bosche H6 Battery... just different stickers. Black top , grey body same handles.

Probably all made by Johnson Controls.

My OE battery lasted just over 3 years. I replaced it with an Interstate MTP-91 battery that I bought at a local quickie-lube place for $94.95 out the door ( I think they forgot to charge sales tax ). Weight savings over OE battery was just over 9.5 lbs.
It's still working fine at 10.5 years.

I just found the plugs on eBay-description was weird but I contacted them and they confirmed they're Y5DDC
I suggest buying on set only, there's another thread on plugs and I'll post there too. Seems they now have 9 sets only.
