Default Oil Temp on Track

I noticed my oil temp is getting almost to the 260 mark when on track on my 997.1 GT3
Is this normal? Seems kinda high to me.
If too high, what could I do to get it down? Not sure what I could clean, change, modify to help cool the oil.
Coolant temp stays steady at the halfway point. Only oil gets up there.

My Temps stay around 200. But a buddy had his at the track and saw temps around 250. Hi reign ended with punching a hole in the case. Correlation vs. Causation?

Next oil change, if you're tracking maybe try the Motel 300v. See if this helps with temps

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into the Motul.
But would oil formula alone cause such high temps? Is there something I should look into, clean, check, replace etc?

What was the outside air temperature (OAT)? It is completely normal for oil temp to be higher when it is hot. I see this all the time when flying...

My oil temps always climb above 200 in every single car I own, well except the Etron. Hella Buggin's temp gauge is off.

Yes, but I live in Portland and am slow as hell LOL. I started tracking a 997.1 C2S and just got in the habit of short shifting to avoid oil starvation. Have only had the GT3 on the track a handful of times.

Even in Portland, 250 would be a reasonable temperature when driving hard on track during a hot day.

Yeah, but I don't like to track on hot days. I like spring and fall seasons. I'm usually not pushing hard unless I'm leading or following a buddy.

It is hard for me to imagine tracking a car (GT3) and the engine oil temp staying at 200F. I am assuming that you are not talking about driving around PIR for the Christmas Light parade/Show?!

PIR has the long straightway into turn 1 (if no chicane) plus the back straightway and you always wind the engine up for speed.

I have always looked for 225F-280F for my normal engine oil at track temp. range; with 250 being a good point.

Mine are a little above the 225F mark I would say 230-235. 87 Degrees Ambient. Running Motul Sport 5w-40. Check your radiators, maybe the fins are beaten up. The GT3 has wateril Coolers they use coolant from the radiator circuit that passes through the oil coolers on the motor, So if your front radiators are beaten up your car will run hotter.

Well, I have gone around PIR for the Winter Spectacular but no. I just don't rev the snot out of it all the time. I will go up over 7k if hard accelerating but if I can be in a lower gear at 4-5k I will. I'm there to practice other things and max acceleration isn't as high on my list.
