Compatible decklids with Mezger 3.8?
I am wanting to build a custom decklid for my 2010 GT3. Are there any decklids that have the same fan and intake air locations as the bottom side of the GT3 decklid? That are not a GT3 decklid..... Can't find any "junk" GT3 decklids to modify and I'm not going to buy a decent one and cut it up.

Are you trying to make a GT3 touring type decklid, a duck tail or a track wing type thing? If you just want the perimeter to mate up with the car (and cut up the middle to make your own air flow arrangement) almost any 997 deck lid will work. If you want a ducktail or something you'll have to meet up with the airbox which means you'll have to get a GT3 deck lid or an aftermarket GT3 deck lid. Similarly for a Gt3 type wing or track wing.. it requires mating up with the airbox and using that "ram air" type intake to do it well.
You'll also need to consider that strip piece that goes above the deck lid. There are several different variants of that to mate up with the different deck lids. For example the Gt3 strip is different than the base Carrera strip.

If you're looking for a ducktail this will mate up with a Gt3 if you specify gt3 when you order (the holes underneath are different to mate up with the airbox).

Thanks Rich. That is good info. I would like to make something similar to the 2016 911R. Probably just need to source a junk Carrera lid and upper panel.

Yes- that's probably a good place to start. I think you'll probably end up doing a lot of cutting on the underside of the the deck lid to get it to work. The airbox intakes are in a different place and i'm not sure if the cooling fan will interfere. Finally, I'm sure you know that the inlets on the outside of the deck lid are not anywhere near as efficient as the gt3 design so you'll certainly take some kind of performance hit.

GT3 decklid with shaved wing is the best option. It’s just impossible to find one that you’d feel ok paying for and then cutting up.
I couldn’t do the replica wing, because none of them fit like an OE part and that would drive me nuts.
This was the most elegant solution I could find. Unfortunately electronics are proprietary but they did share this with me.

Here’s a few more I’ve found along the way that might help.
Cream car is a member here who was kind enough to share the photos with me. Cut a spare OE GT3 decklid he had. Makes swapping back and forth much quicker.

wasn't there a guy that had done a similar mod to his car? Busta Rib or something was his username. he had a meteor gray 997.2 gt3. Search this forum and you'll find it.
