I don't get why you want to wrap the entire car with a color instead of clear. Assuming the original paint is clean.

I don’t think the paint is perfect because autocross cone hits on the hips, below the clear PPF.

So initially I was going to wrap it colored for something new. Also to avoid having yellowing clear PPF which is something that happened within 5 years to the original clear bra.

But since reaching out to my racing buddy, going to do like you said.

Am going to have him make the original paint PERFECT then go get a whole bunch of clear PPF put on the car.

I cleaned the inside for the first time in years. Put the passenger seat back in so that I can go out with the wife AND daughter to nice summer dinners out.

Default Well ****….

Looked in storage and I’m apparently smarter than I thought

I do have the factory rear sway and the center exhaust section!

I had the day earmarked to sort through stuff anyway.

Time to get to work!

that's some serious autocrossing you were doing.

Question: were the black door handle pulls originally on your monroney sticker? .. I ask because I have those on my build sheet {aqua blue}, and was told it's one of those Exclusive Manufaktur option boxes that most people (back in 2009 timeframe) did not know how to tic. not sure if that's really true or not,.. but other than carbon fiber, I don't see many that are body color,... and yet yours are black & the car is white?

again, just curious {... both from a historical perspective, & on your car}

I’m not the original owner so I’m not sure! I think this is the way the car was built but I can’t say with 100% confidence.

Was able to sort through some stuff. Man I have a lot of GTR wheels as well.

This is where I’m at. Two sets of OEM wheels in pretty good condition. They’re dirty but they seem to be doing well.

The Superforgiatas (top row) are my favorite and likely what’s going on the car after back from fluffing and buffing. They look kind of OEM and they’re way lighter.

The OEM wheels will go back in storage.

really bummed my boss wouldnt let me pull the trigger to upgrade my 997.1 gt3 to yours.
please don't sell the car to anyone for the next 6 years. When my kids are out of college then, i can exit car buying purgatory.

One of the first things I would have done to your car is wrap it. Not a white color fan Boi. A wrap will also make your car feel new! And reversible. Doing a detail will only make your car feel new for a day.
Alternatively, id consider a Martini stripe kit from kistudios. Also easily reversible.

For a car that's no longer a DD, the utility of whole car PPF is low. And the yellowing and shrinking after a few years is annoying.

Right decision to keep the car. I wasn't looking for a 7GT3 when mine came up for sale and almost beckoned me. Now I understand why. I'm actually looking to pick up a second one as I go back and fourth between two places.

If my car was white, I'd do wheels and possibly decals in one of the 73RS colors - likely green or blue.

Have fun falling in love all over again.

Thanks! I’m hearing more and more from people who sold and regretted and people who will never let them go.

The pool is shrinking and I think the people who waited too long… waited too long.

There are a lot of GT3s that will never emerge from their forever homes…

For documentation, replacing end links is $250.

I could just replace the lower heim joints but I don’t want to deal with rust lol.

Doesn’t really matter as I have the stock bar too.

Will order these to put in storage with the OEM wheels.

Default Easy PPF removal

Took white vinyl off the least pristine part of the car.

Made people nervous on PPI

But wait!

What’s underneath?

20 min of heat and peeling…

This is the imperfection that’s there.

Will have that part repaired and blended.

I think the paint in fenderwell is much better off for having vinyl there.

Default Enjoyable

Front panel came off in 6 minutes. One sheet.

Clear bra front. Paint is pristine on front.

Default DONE

All finished with the driver side. Took maybe 1.5 hours total leisurely working and listening to audiobooks on a rainy day.

Paint is in very good condition but not perfect.

Two little ditzels on the rocker panel that will get touched up.

Pretty fresh overall!

I’ll save the other side for another rainy day.

I wanted to unwrap this side to see what it looked like underneath. It was as I remembered. Very good but not perfect.

Removing the PPF was trivial and dare I say enjoyable.

Default Pinning coolant lines.

Talked to my buddy who owns an independent shop and they’re going to do the pinning of coolant lines and replace the cheap plastic with SharkWerks stuff.

They’ll also see about replacing the chain and or the tensioner on bank 1 for the 3.5* angle and replacing some coolant stuff while the engine is out.

I decided to have the engine stuff done first before the paint, just in case.

I might have him put the stock rear sway back on while the engine is out anyway.
