Default 997.2 RS - Aftermarket headers worth it?

I have a 997.2 GT3RS that currently has a sharkwers center bypass exhaust. I like the way it sounds but wish it was louder and had a bit more to it. Exploring whether it's worth doing long tube headers and 200cel cats along with side muffler deletes and and an alternate center sectio. Been thinking about either a full Dundon package (headers, cats, side muffler delete, and loud center or crackpipe), Or I have been looking at the Cargraphic package that is close to the same type of setup.

More power is nice, but I honestly care about sound the most. Do you guys have any experence/feedback about switching to a system like this? It is worth the cost/hassle of potential CEL's. I'd love to hear any experiences. Also, I have read many good postings about Dundon's offerings, but I have not read as many postings about cargraphic's setups. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!

Dundon's a crowd favorite, for sure. A small number of people have mentioned CEL issues without a tune. Generally, this is a risk without a tune and aftermarket headers.
There are lots of complete Akra systems on steep discounts right now. That is worth considering.
I run the Kline complete system and love the duality of it. (loud when valves open and quiet when closed)
One of the pros of the Dundon and Cargraphic pieces is that you can run different center mufflers. (Dundon/OEM/Akra)

One of the hardest decisions. Wishing you luck.

Agree with Elliot, one of the things to consider is that long tube headers do impact the sound (in a positive way imo) on top of the muffler.

If you pull two levers at the same time, best to try and find a bunch of combos sounds online.

If you start to nerd out on it ask specifics, good chance someone has tried that combo…

for instance my Ti center has a slight more tin sound (less throat) than my Stainless did but I like the weight savings most and blue rainbows are cool

if I had my choice id hot swap out the Dundon loud and SW bipass etc when I want to rattle cages, but that’s not practical obv

What I landed on is just most livable for me, it will rattle the canyons at 7000 rpm, but barely noticeable under 4K so you won’t be noticed at a stoplight

You can get the Akra here for $8,000 BRAND NEW!

997 GT3 / GT3RS / GT3 4.0 Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust System New In Box (Full System)For Sale

I get what you mean by the Sharkwerks center delete not being enough. It's nice around town but once in the upper rev ranges it's begins to peter out. If that's your only gripe, then the RSS center will fix that issue as it screams and just gets more violent as the revs rise all the way to redline. IMO, it's the absolute best sounding center delete out there.

If you're also looking for more power, then yes headers and 200 cells are the way to go. I removed a Sharkwerks center delete and installed my full M&M setup and it was a night and day difference in power. The car pulls like a freight train, granted it's also Evoms tuned.

Dundon, great but pricy as hell.
Alkrapovic - on sale now and hard to beat but the headers aren't the longest tubes available.
Carpgaphic - Looks to be a super nice setup.
Supersprint. Granted they are not strictly Porsche but I hear their workmanship is on point.
FVD/Bormbacher/M&M - strictly Porsche with a bunch of engineering and a pedigree behind it.

I have the full akra system that I purchased through Repasi (and he installed it). Absolutely love how quiet it can be with the valves closed and then how it howls when they're open. Perfect for my use case. I know Dundon makes more power, but they're also way more expensive and seems like way louder as well.

I have the M&M Center bypass, which is a lot like the Sharkwerks Center, and Soul valved Side bypass setup. I use the Carnewal remote to keep the valves open or closed:
http://www.carnewal.com/products/997...PSE-Controller

Since you already have the Center setup, I suggest getting valved Side pipes-Cargraphic looks like a great choice, as is Soul and Fabspeed and a few others.
I still keep the garage door closed for the first few minutes of a cold start when the car is loudest until the air pump kicks on, with valves closed. It does make a difference in sound with them closed. If you. do get 200 Cel cats I bet it will get even louder-so I recommend starting the way I did and take it from there. With valves open and above 3-4K things get damn loud if you're wide open-

Personally I think you’d be happy with side muffler deletes and the OEM back box. Much more aggressive than the center delete (and way cheaper than headers/etc.).

Give it a shot!

Over the years I've tried to search for which exhaust the Rally teams use-most are pretty loud but they each seem to use different ones. Some sound better than others:

There are a lot more threads on exhaust options if you search the 997 GT2/GT3 section of rennlist-
When the RSR had this exhaust it was fantastic:

They then tried the side exhaust, one in front of each wheel that sounded horrible, but the idea was that the rear diffuser performed better-

Headers and 200 cel HFC definitely make some power and add a bit of volume and rasp. As for what exhaust sound is for you is totally subjective. I've had nearly 10 configurations and haven't quite nailed it yet. I absolutely LOVE my Dundon Loud muffler but actually would like it to be a pinch louder when on the pipe but im still an idiot kid at heart.

really would be best if you could hear audio samples from inside the car. or actually heard in person inside. bc that will be your reference point.

i had a cargraphic sound exhaust - no headers- thought it elevated the cars soundtrack nicely (997 turbo)

Dundon fanboy here through and through. Real gains too - not just the butt dyno.
