Default SC/TC button stopped working on my 997.1 GT2

Hello RL friends,

This past weekend we had my 997.1 GT2 on the dyno and realized pretty quickly that we could not defeat SC via the SC/TC off button. Meaning pressing the button had no effect, and so it didn't light up. We were able to defeat TC by itself via the separate TC off button with no issues (and the dash would inform us that TC was off correctly).

Due to this issue, we were unable to complete a full dyno pull, which was disappointing of course. I'm unaware how long this issue may have been around as I don't disable SC on my car ever, but my car was successfully dyno tested on the very same dyno in 2019 shortly after I bought it. This was intended to be my 'new baseline' with the additional tune/exhaust. I did follow up with the vendor who provided my tune/exhaust and they are also looking into it, but all initial indications are that it's nothing that could have been caused by their work as they don't intrude on that functionality.

So, although it's definitely possible that the button itself failed, I'm just inquiring here to see if anyone else has ever experienced this behavior. For the record my car throws no codes for this, and SC/TC are certainly on by default. It's only my ability to turn it off that seems compromised. Thanks in advance for any help in troubleshooting this!

Just change the switch panel, and you are good to go

I guess it's just hard for me to believe that a switch that has barely ever been used failed, so was curious if anyone had seen this behavior before. I agree that if it really is just the switch that it's a very straight forward fix.

Well, i had the same problem. Previous owners seems to have used it . Changed it, and it works. I have 2010 gt3.

could easily be that at some point someone removed the trim panel that contains the SC/TC button and did not put it all back together properly. The button you press with your finger is a just a flimsy little square that, in turn, actually presses the "real" button behind it.

Thank you and it's actually kind of relieving to know that it has happened to at least someone else with a 997 based GT car.

That's a really great point, and I will make sure to investigate that as soon as I can. Another buddy said that sometimes buttons that are NEVER used are actually the ones that go bad, and this button is a pretty good case study in buttons that are never pressed on a GT2. So, I look forward to reporting back what I find, and definitely appreciate all the comments and suggestions.

That would definitely count as the nuclear option, but I have found myself rather attached to this 997.1 GT2!
