Default Yet another GT3RS RMS leak . . .

Well, to my unpleasant surprise I discovered a small amount of oil on my garage floor this morning, and dealer confirms (based on a quick inspection) that it is in fact a result of an RMS leak. Bummer. Dealer says the leak doesn't look too bad, but recommends a fix. Should I get it fixed now, or wait to see if it goes away? Any other tips from those who've had their GT3/GT3RS fixed?

Seems to be a common thing on the 997, i've had mine done, and a front of engine seal too...

No point losing sleep over it, the car is in for a day, and straight out again, that's what warranty is for....

I have had a leak on my GT3, but have not yet been told by the dealer what kind of leak it is. i am allegedly going to get an itemized statement showing what was done to the car. I got a new engine under warranty after an attempt to repair the leak by replacing the valve cover gaskets failed. I also now have something that sounds like a marble rolling from side to side in turns in the back of my car. What is next???

Mine still leaks. Was having too much fun autocrossing every weekend to get it done. Season is over so time to get it done.

Mooty,
When the dealer replaced your 07 GT 3RS RMS do you know if they dropped the engine along with the trans or just the trans to get at the RMS?

Wow, that makes more than just a few gt3's with rms issues. I only know of 1 TT that had an issue, but I guess all the flat 6 motors are at risk. Wonder why turbos don't do it more often?

It's been a problem on the m96/97 engines for quite some years now. But lately the GT motors seem to have caught the infection too. Why does Porsche have this problem on two different engines? Something to do with the boxer design??

Had and RMS leak in my '07 GT3 at around 2500 miles, and had it fixed. Not a big deal at all. I probably could have waited, but I hate the idea of dripping oil all over the place.

Porsche is incapable of solving this problem. So much for Porsche's vaunted engineering prowess. Maybe some consulting with Hyundai or Kia is in order...

Not to worry, this is simply the P-car's way of marking its territory. You'll notice that the GT3 and GT3RS cars usually leak on the track, while the 996 and 997 models are more prone to leaking on the road. LOL

This happens dramatically less on the GT/Turbo than on the lower models. If it is happening more now on the 997 versions, even the high end ones, I would call shenanigans on Porsche and say they are trying to save a buck. Here come the flames.
