Default Calling all you grey/black GT3 RS Owners - Paintwork Challenges?

I'm considering a grey/black 2011 GT3RS, which I personally think looks the business. Nothing wrong with the other color choices, just prefer this one myself.

Anyway, have a deal ready to go and after taking a very close look at the new car Im considering, looks like there are a few swirls in the paint which can be seen under showroom lights. I know from posters here and on 6speed that the paint is quite soft, and that it is effectively a flat clear coat type color (ie. not metallic), so will show marks easily.

I thought I'd go with a clear bra wrap for the car, and that'd take care of any swirls and paint marks Id otherwise pickup over time.

Any of you grey/black owners out there have regrets with the color/paintwork choice and is it actually as much of a pain as Im thinking it is to keep clean etc?

Blue whit gray
No matter
U will see swirls
Dark color shows more
U will never get all of them off
Pick the color u want
Have it detailed and paint corrected to remove swirl and clr bra it.

My black car is covered in swirls. Nobody notices them, though, because I cleverly obscure them under an opaque layer of track grime, cone scuffs, and bits of tire.

Just wrap it.
Although maybe not in white, under certain indoor lighting the rear (Hot) part of the car is yellowing, I hope McDonalds is looking to start sponsoring DE cars soon..

I use Nugget's approach; you can drive yourself to distraction worrying about every swirl. Don't misunderstand, as far as cars are concerned there is only one thing that I like more than a just detailed, polished and waxed pristine paint finish; that's 2 hours on the track!

I'm all for protecting the paint but track time takes it's toll on your car's finish. Consider it a consumable like brakes or tires.

For the record I am picking up my new Grey Black RS tomorrow. The finish was polished and sealed first. Then I had the the entire front (from the A pillars forward) wrapped as well as the leading edge of the side mirrors and wing. I'll post pics asap.

I have my black Gt-3 wrapped, but using the proper washing tools will keep swirling to a minimum. Get a lambswool mitt to wash, and MF towels for drying. Don't get lazy and take it to one of those drive-thru washers. Gauranteed swirling.

MIne is fine and I had the entirer front end plus mirrors and the leading edge of the wing and rear fenders done in clear vinyl. No issues after 50 track days. Use a Mr. Clean magic eraser sponge to get rubber off the clear vinyl.

20 Track days with mine. I have clear vinyl on the nose, hood, side skirts and rear quarters. No issues with the unprotected paint. Just washed the car tonight. Still looks great.

If you are really concerned about it, just wrap the whole car with clear bra (common on exotic cars nowadays.)

Only 26 track days for me in 2010 (so far). I feel like quite a slacker compared to Bob.
