Sanity returning to Porsche - New parts prices effective today
Over the past 6 months, Porsche has done its best to price themselves out of the market on MANY 996/997 GT2/GT3 parts. Many of these parts have gone up by 100-300%. Guess they finally figured it out so effective today there is new pricing for a lot of the more popular items. Examples are GT3 RS decklids. These were $2500 in Sept 06. They then proceeded to go up to over $8K this month. Effective today they are back down to $3600. Other bits like 996 GT3 RS carbon spoilers, 997 GT3 RS wheels, 997 Euro GT3 Seats have also come down. Many of these came down to 1/2 or 1/3 of their list price from yesterday. There are over 400 parts that were changed as of today. It's going to take a while to get all this sorted out, but at least someone at Porsche is listening.

Thanks Viper-B. Did U get these prices for certain items you were interested in or was this posted somewheres for the public?
FWIW- I may be in the market for some items in the spring.
Cheers
Bill

That's good to hear, it seems sad that Porsche, who already gets astrinomical prices for some of their parts just because they are Porsche parts, was squeezing it's most loyal customers. And by most loyal customers I mean the guys that do a little or a lot of their own maintenance, do DE's and Autocrosses, and are involved in their local car clubs/chapters such as PCA, POC, PBOC, NASA, CHIN etc etc.

Bill - I just got sample pricing on a few things at this point. This is a bulletin that went out to all the Porsche dealers today under the title of GT2/GT3 Price Changes. There are over 400 prices apparently that were changed. It may take days for the dealers to update their systems as these changes during the month are manual adjustments and not some autofeed/update.

I'm checking on the GT3 seats right now. They originally were about $10k for the pair, then they went to $12K and the last go 'round they jumped to $18K. Hopefully they have come down to under $10K, but I doubt it.

Thanks for keeping us informed on what is going on. You may want to cross post on the 996 GT2/3 board. The recent discussion on RS Wings from $3000 to $8000 turned a lot of people off, including me who was considering the purchase.

No Paul, no one ordered a wing at that price. I did not sell a single part for any of the cars when they were running up in price. Good thing as I think someone would be VERY pissed off. I did ask Porsche if someone did buy at the high end of the pricing tree and now the prices could be 1/2 or less of what they paid lets say earlier this week would they get a refund. I couldn't get an answer as prices have really not gone down before so they have never had this situation.

That may explain why I paid $185+ for the front lip a month ago and when I check with the same dealer 2 days ago, it dropped down to $145. Don't know if it'll drop even more?
