The host mentioned the Cup tires and the M3 had somewhat worn tires, but what kind of tires did the GTR have? THe paddle shifter tranny has to be good for .3 seconds on a 64 second course, right?
The M3 looks so big and bulky with a lot of body lean. It's a sad state of affairs when you lose the brakes after 2 laps...............in 35 degree weather. The new M3 has become the old M5.

That's it. I am selling my GT3 and getting a GTR. Now that I know it can post faster laptimes in conditions I will never drive in my decision is made for me.
Is anyone going to make a decent comparison? In reasonable weather with similar level of prep. And how about doing it as a full day with 4 sessions of 30 minutes each? Let's see which car runs better during the last 15 minutes of the 4th session.
I am sure the GTR is a great car. But if when comparing it to others a proper context can be very helpful.
Sadly the M3 is not in the same league when comparing to the GTR or GT3. But it is a great daily driver that is very easy to live with. Don't hold your breath for the CSL, either.

Wow, the that just boggles my mind, considering how much the Skyline weighs. Nissan has done a great job with this car. Obviously, the GT3 is more of a driver's car, but if you want to go fast "easily," then the skyline is your tool.

Got to agree, if all you want to do is be the fastest, then the GT-R is for you, if you want a car that
you actually have to drive in order to extract the best from it, the name of that car is GT3.

I have to say that if he's 4.7 seconds to 60 he's not getting the actual performance of the gt3.
AWD makes a huge difference in those type of temperatures but either way it's a really close lap time.
surely the skyline is and really has always been impressive through the years, I just don't see it making me a better driver. any skylines racing ALMS? wonder why not

I also have to think that if he'd adjusted the adjustable sway bars, then he probably could have dialed out some of the bothersome understeer that he complained of and maybe gained the .3 seconds he needed to eclipse the GTR's lap time.

The Skyline is mighty impressive, but should be thought of in road car terms as a grand tourer, not a pur sports car like the GT3. It's just too heavy. It's more like a Ferrari 599, or an Astin Vantage, or a BMW M6, or a MB C63.

I thought Chris Harris made it pretty clear that this was a test to see what a driver could do in the three cars in one hot lap and one pass from 0-60-100mph; it wasn't about extracting the maximum over several passes, etc.
I'm not sure what the people above think was unfair in the test, Harris made all the details clear and articulated the temps, the rules and the numbers. I thought it was a great video and I really enjoy Chris Harris' reviews.
The new GTR, like its predecessors, is one hell of a car!

Incredible car at an great price. Ugly as can be, but just as fast as it is ugly. Not something I would want to be seen in or have to compete against.
