new gt3rs?
#46
Thanks, it has been sometime since I have logged in. Used to own a 911 Ruf BTR(type 930), than jumped to the Murcielago for 3 years and just sold it recently. Now I am seriously looking into getting back into the Porsche scene with the new 997 GT3 RS Mk2 which will be in Singapore by end this year.
I am going to order the new RS also and it will be mainly for street use.

On another note, how many 997 GT3 RS were built? Is it a limited production worth keeping?

No doubt, especially if the new RS is priced only $17K more than the GT3 (as it was for the 997.1), ie $129K for the no optioned model. However, I think Porsche will price it even higher than that as the new RS looks to have widened the gap beyond the 997.2 GT3 to a greater degree than the version 1 series cars did. I can imagine Porsche charging $140K+ for it w/o options if it has 4.0L at 450hp.

if it is 4.0L, then at 140k many ppl will bite.
but at more than 140k, the italians aren't that far away.
i think slowly but surely, p cars are pricing themselves out of competition.
remember VW phaeton. great cars. no less impressive than 750iL, but they VW badge cannot (to most ppl) command 6 digits. other than CGT, i just dont see porsches at prices > 150k (other than cgt or 959)

As an owner of an RS, I would love to believe it would be limited, but I was told by a Porsche representative to be patient way back in late 07 when it looked impossible to get a car from a dealer.
I could not be that patient and I bought my car not long after. In spite of the heavy financial hit, I love my car and I want them to keep making new cool cars.

But, all should want there to be something better coming, even if for selfish reasons so they can acquire one.
