If you have a MobileMe account the audio and video could be placed there for DL

Clever, very clever and cruel all at the same time! I will remember that one Mr Buttons!

So you liked the mounts. If one were to just track their GT3, tell me why that person would want these dynamic mounts as opposed to just installing a permanent stiffer mount for say $600 and be done with it? My theory at this time is that the mounts give you a GT3 for both street and track application, which surely does have it's place in the market.

Anybody else feel free to tune into this if there is something I am missing! My GT3 will mostly be trailered from track to track with an occasional Sunday drive.

Yep, because it has no structural or rigidity benefit whatsoever. It adds 18kg weight to the car 'quite high up, where you don't want it'.

Oh and it means his sport bag doesn't fit behind the seat

Not sure whether to get it - it does unbolt but would take a while to do and of course then the seats are nomex and not the lovely leather/alcantara...

As for the 'sunroof' - he was, I think, at is most passionate when talking about how he hated the fact it needed to be added for the US market. He actually hit the roof of the car with the side of his fist at one point. Top bloke

But would you end up with mounts that limit movement to 2mm? The impression I got was that unless you're going to bolt the engine directly so it can't move, the dynamic mounts are preferable.

Standard GT3 mounts apparently allow 17mm movement...

Thanks kryten Interesting how the "Pros" seem to prefer the lower weight/better driving dynamics over the additional safety.
When I asked Marc Basseng a couple of weeks ago how he would spec his GT3 (not the RSR... ) he said the same: no roll cage. I was a bit astonished to hear that from a professional race driver.

If you don't get the roll cage the GT2 (foldable) seats make even more sense Though I think in the MKII (unlike in the MKI) you need a least a bar to fix the shoulder straps in case you want a 6pt-harness.

As for the sunroof: I had quite a laugh two weeks ago at NoS when a GT3 newbie showed up in his recently from the US re-imported 997.1 GT3 (carrarawhite with orange RS decals ???). The weather was nice and he forgot to close the sunroof when he went for a lap.... not so good for high speed stability at Schwedenkreuz

Maybe they have an unerring belief that it is completely redundant and will never, ever, actually be called into use.

I used to have that too, right up until the point I hit the gravel sideways at about 100mph...

There's also another reason to avoid a roll-cage in a road-car, in that whilst it's ok to hit it with a helmet on, in the event of a severe accident without wearing one ie on the road, it's a very hard object to hit, thats very near to your head! This applies especially to the front section if fitted.

There have been many cases in Porsches of people severely injured as a result of this in road accidents (fractured skulls etc).

That's a fair point about the front section but if the car has deformed in such a way that your head is hitting the rear section then i doubt very much even a helmet would help

So, Button doesn't want to tell us anything about the RS flywheel question then?

It looks like we're going to have to wait until the next event to get the answer...

If your wife is going to beat you, let it be a 2x4 versus a base ball bat, same amount of force over a larger area!

Nice find Adam2S.

So Ti exhaust on RS looks likely - would account for 14hp boost alone - along with some other nice bits. What do you think is meant by RSR front suspension? Full boat or just monoballs and more adjustability?
