Default New tyre homologated for 997GT2

Well not really but I just noticed on the Michelin web site they are now listing our tyre sizes in an N1 version as well as the original N0......

Do we think there will be any difference or is it just a relisting by Porsche ?

Hey TB,

I believe a revised MPSC "Plus" tyre was released for the 2010 GT3 just recently that was an N1 and therefore they have probably updated the wider size for the GT2 to this new tyre... The tyre is slightly different and supposed to be better in the wet but don't take my word for it, although there probably aren't many who have done some serious kms on the new tyre yet to offer an opinion...

My trye people now have these new N1s in GT2 sizes in stock and they are described as CUP +
I am now pondering whether to fit the 245/35 N1s to my 9" front Dymags instead of the 235/35s..... any thoughts ?

Hi Toby,

I am waiting delivery of the 245 front MPSC as well
It's what the GT2RS will have from factory, so I'm quite positive going toward the wider front size

Anyway I have 9.5" BBS
The 9" looks a bit narrow for the tyre to work efficiently, but they should fit well

The slight change in overall circumference is in the SC / ABS allowances, so it shouldn't interfere with them
As for clearance to the fender... just add some camber if needed!

Who receive them first, please post feelings, ok?
Ciao

Hi Paolo

Well I just ordered mine, 245/35 X19 and 325/30 X19 in the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup + N1, delivery should be by end of the week so will probably get them fitted next week.

I was looking at all the offsets:
The GT3RS has 9" ET 47 so compared to our standard 8.5" ET53 it sticks out another 12mm..... The RS has the wide arches to cover and the GT2RS has those lip flares...
My 9" fronts are ET53 so they are 6mm wider on the inside and 6mm on the outside - I am hoping there won't be any rubbing anywhere, I don't really want to add any camber I am not a track hound like you

I have been trying to find any info about these new + tyres but there seems none available - at least they are the same price as the NOs , only £465 per rear

The front fit fine on my size/offsets, no rubbing anywhere even on full lock - my 9" fronts are 6mm more inboard than the GT3RS (and GT2RS is expected to be)
A note, the rear N1s 325/30 are marked as simply Michelin Pilot Sport cup N1 there is no + on the tyre FWIW

New European regulations have banned some of the compounds used in high performance tires. Michelin and the rest are adapting and we'll see a lot of N+ tires as well as new versions on DOT approved race tires.

so basically the new N1 "Cup+" is even more watered down than the already weak N0 tire? I am going to kick Al Gore in the *****...
