Selling is not in my plans but the dilemma is still there to deal with.
You never know when the urge to change will hit. On the other hand
The car is worth more now than ever to the owner. Not many choices for the $ it would sell for. New Gt3's aren't enough of an upgrade for the $ in my opinion.

997.1 GT3 RS standard brakes (red calipers)
Front Caliper: 12.6 lbs
Front 350mm cast iron rotor: 27 lbs
Rear Caliper: 8.2 lbs
Rear 350mm cast iron rotor: 22 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 139.6 lbs

997.1 GT3 RS PCCB
FrontCaliper: 12.8 lbs
Front 380mm PCCB rotor: 12.7 lbs
Rear Caliper: 8.2 lbs
Rear 350mm PCCB: 12.2 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 91.8 lbs

Almost 48 lbs saved in the 997.1 GT3 by getting PCCB

Brembo Gran Turismo
Front Caliper: 12.5 lbs
Front 380mm cast iron rotor (bigger): 19 lbs
Rear Caliper (6-piston): 12.5 lbs
Rear 355mm cast iron rotor (bigger): 18.4 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 124.8 lbs

Brembo GTR
Front GTR Caliper: 7.2 lbs
GTR 380mm rotor (bigger): 19.8 lbs
Rear GTR Caliper: 7 lbs
GTR 328mm rotor (smaller): 13.4 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 94.8 lbs

997.1 GT3 RS PCCB using GT3 Cup front rotors and Brembo 2-piece rear
FrontCaliper: 12.8 lbs
Front 380mm cast iron rotor: 21.7 lbs
Rear Caliper: 8.2 lbs
Rear 350mm cast iron rotor: 14.5 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 114.4 lbs

Stoptech STR
StopTech STR60 caliper: 7.9 lbs
StopTech STR40 caliper: 6.4 lbs
Front Rotor 380x32: 19.2 lbs
Rear Rotor 355x28: 14.6 lbs
Total Weight (4 calipers + 4 rotors): 96.2 lbs

Both Brembo GTR and Stoptech STR are as light as a stock PCCB, unless you can notice a difference of around 1 lb per corner (good luck with that).

The Brembo GTR kit with the larger 355 rear rotors (not the 328mm rotors specs above) is a little heavier than the STR kit with the same specs.

I personally prefer Stoptech because it is an American company, with great support, the owner is a Porsche race driver (Dino Crescentini), and they offer a high quality product for a fair price. Do your research and compare GTR vs. STR prices, big difference.

The new generation of CCB rotors (StopTech is still testing) have the same construction as what you see in F1. Brembo has them, Stoptech has them, Movit has them, but no car manufacturer has offered them yet. These new CCB rotors last longer and they are almost 1/2 the weight of current PCCB, Lambo CCB, Ferrari CCB, ZR1 CCB.

The cost from Brembo for a GTR kit with these new CCB rotors is around $55k.

I love CCB for street and autoX use, but for track use they are a little expensive. If I would plan to use my car for more than 5 track days a year, I would remove the PCCB, but then in such case I would not even order PCCB, rather buy a full STR kit, and sell the stock system no anyone with an older car.

Both Brembo GTR and Stoptech STR offer noise reduction piston plates and dust boots in their kits for street use.

The price on those rotors are much more reasonable.. wish the PCCB rotors are in the similar price range!

I have not seen it used before. They are cast iron rotors though

I wonder why not more companies makes rotors that would re-use the stock hats.. certainly would reduce the cost.. !

Has anybody determined if that ZR1 rotor will fit on the Porsche PCCB hat? That would save a bunch of money compared to Porsches prices.

Great thread to revive!

I can't imagine it being a straight "bolt up" conversion, but it seems to me that a good brake specialist with access to race car parts could get a stock hat, machine it to the correct offsets and bolt a ZR1 rotor with the appropriate hardware (especially if the hat has to be a for a centerlock hub.

For less than the cost of two replacement rotors, you'd have all four corners.

Surely there's some race brake shop operator out there with the entrepreneurial ***** to make it work.

If someone can do it, I'll buy a set for my 993 Turbo.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. I think it would be way to involved to be practical. ZR1 rotors are thicker and have a larger diameter. They would need to be machined down to fit. Don't think you'll find anyone willing to risk that venture.
Might be doable if rotors and calipers were both changed over. Don't know if there is room @ the hub to fit an adapter for the ZR1 calipers.
