Default 997 GT3 Ceramic Rotor replacement

Has anyone seen this. I saw it in Total 911 mag.
Finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
Wonder how they will perform

That's a huge discount from OEM - hope they're just as good (or better).

How does the weight of 8.9kg compare with OEM front donuts (without bell)?

it's iron rotor and not carbon ceramic. 8.9 kg each = 19.6 lbs and each front PCCB only weigh 12 lbs that is inlcding the hat!

Those are conventional cast iron rotors rims to reuse the PCCB hats, nothing new. Also they don't fit the 997TT or Carrera.

Brembo GTR or StopTech STR weigh about the same as Porsche stock PCCB, and they are both race proven.

Optionally, both Brembo GTR and StopTech STR can be ordered with CCB rotors, and save close to 30 lbs over the stock PCCB, or 70/80 lbs over a 997.1/997.2 GT3/GT3RS with standard brakes.

Odd - it says they are ceramic and from the description they don't sound just like conventional cast iron rotors. Maybe it's some sort of hybrid with ceramic over cast iron? I'd still go with the StopTech or Brembos though either way.

It's known that there are reasonably priced non OEM rotors avail but I wonder if these resist fade and reduce brake dust like the ceramics??

Still waiting for hard data from the vendors to prove this claim. Radio silence so far.

We know for a fact Stoptech STR rotors ARE heavier than PCCB rotors. Steel is heavier than carbon

Steel is heavier than carbon is a pretty broad statement. I don't have the details but Rad has proven to be extremely precise with things like this so I would tend to believe his claim. I'm not sure he has a reason to stretch the truth here either.

People make that same affirmation in the cycling world too. Though Carbon fiber bikes are lighter, steal is real and not that much heavier!

Hi Rad,

Whats the price of the Brembo GTR with CCB rotors for the 997?

Do you have the exact weight of the OEM PCCB:s and the Brembo CCB:s?
Also the weight of the OEM PCCB calipers versus the Brembo ones?

Believe I'm happy to be proven wrong on this, especially since I swapped from PCCB to steel on my RS order. However to date, nobody has been able to produce real numbers to back up the claim.

I don't think Rad ever said the STR rotors are lighter than PCCB. I believe he said that the overall setup is lighter because the calipers are lighter, which offset the weight of the iron rotors.
