Considering the purchase of a '08 GT2, GT Silver/Blk, nicely optioned, immaculate condition w/9K miles. Would appreciate your comments regarding current market value.

i have a gt2 and i bought mine a few months ago sed foe 150 it hd 7k miles and fully loaded as most are.

i might be selling mine soon and i think ill sell it for 130's i have 14 k miles now.

Very hard to say. Surely they're at the beginning of the next step down the depreciation curve as the new car takes center stage. Tough time to buy or sell and get a fair deal for both parties. As ever, buying later is better and seller sooner is better.

I imagine you know how to use the USA pre-owned search from Porsche:

There's also pmletter.com and the other forum sites to look for recent sales. You could email www.sportscarmarket.com or look at recent eBay closed sold auctions, google of course and dupontregistry.com as well as talking with the used car manager at your local dealer to get an idea of the bid-ask spread.

Looking at Porsche dealer listings, I don't see enough consistent information to even guess at fair wholesale (if there is such as thing as "fair wholesale" ... I certainly don't think so ...) Anyway, is it $120K (which is about where it stood for the new cars when they just wouldn't sell for love nor money and even zero mile new cars were at $150K) or will the bottom fall out. I don't see that happening, but I don't see how the "old" RS could possibly be anywhere near $100K or the old GT3 lucky to see $80K. Just madness for so much car -- too many buyers wanting only the latest status symbol and too many cars for sale. So it goes.

I shopped around a bit, of and on, for a GT2. I think I always wanted the RS, but they were always over-bought, then suddenly we had a market crash, recession, deflation and then the new RS was "only a few more months to wait" so I missed the window. That also increased my resolve to get a 2010 RS very early on and get the most out of it. Every cloud, as they say ...

I'd imagine it will take a very good to great example and only if the dealer is even the tiniest bit interested for wholesale prices to be up near the asking prices of Porsche dealer ads at retail. There was a long period of time when it was speculated at that the 997.1 GT2 would become a rare and special car for the collector. As rumors of something that might be a 997.2 GT2 surfaced a year or two back and 997.1 product was cut short, it became a self-fulfilling prophecy and the bottom fell out of the .1 sales. For its time, the car was also overpriced and it had entered the room while the furore -- good and bad -- swirling around the RS was still the main event. There can be only one.

As for what's out there today, dealer retail listings vary from a pretty low ball $133K for a whopping 22K mile car. Bravo to the original owner on that one! To a preposterous $190K for a zero mile yellow/beige oddity. You'd have to love it for that color scheme and that money.

With the new car being such a leap forward in specs, plus the cachet of the "new" car, I think the spread has to widen considerably. As with the old GT2, it will do okay until it falls out of favor (that seems to take about two to three years) then it starts to trip down the steps of the depreciation fire stair well. : )

^^The Yellow/Beige car is actually yellow/black...for some reason the Porsche site shows yellow exterior color as "yellow/beige". Correct on the price....no way on $190k. OP should be able to buy a sub 3k GT2 all day below $150k

It appears that way as I've seen several of the same cars advertised for at least 6 months. However, I'm looking for a driver not a garage queen so paying any premium for a low mileage example doesn't make sense to me. The 10K car I mentioned is available for 130K which I believe to be a fair price. Anyone know of any other 5-10K mi cars that are currently available?

i think Paul Miller porsche had a wicked low miler. i think about 5, 6months ago they were asking 150ish. i thought they had it as of 6 weeks ago.
no idea what they were asking.
i agree you should be able have a selection of good cars in that 110 to 130 range. pretty reliable cars, havent heard of anything being too fragile, so as long as it wasnt thrashed, you should be good to go. just check those rotors and pads. it hink the rotors are like 16grand to replace?

Ive seen 200-500 mile 2008 GT2 sold for $150K-$160K range and 10k-17K mile 2008 GT2 sold for $120K-$130K range.

I've only seen a handful of 5-10K mile examples and that's where my interst is. At 110K I imagine it would have approx. 20K mi, like this one...http://www.jimellisporsche.com/2008/...42997/info.php. Right on regarding the CCB's. I would never purchase w/o a professional PPI.

I am a serious buyer for a GT2 with sport buckets that has under 15K miles for under 130. I passed a good opportunuty for an atlas grey one in VA that has 10K miles for 130 with CPO.

I also prefer the sport buckets but not a deal breaker for me.

They're not selling through dealers at all here in the UK. I've been on the look out since 2013. Almost bought one for £90k. The seller wanted £5k more but the car had RR 5 so I walked. Thats the sort of money I'd want to pay for a sub 30k mile no stories original panel car. Porsche dealers asking circa £160k will remain unsold forever they're daft. Competing with 458, 488, 600lt, 650s, 991.2 GT3, 991.2 GT3 RS even 720s available at the same money brand new in UK so no chance anyone will pay that sort of money for a 7 GT2. Also I'd happily have a standard stock GT2 over a GT2 RS. Wont make any difference to my lap times!

I'm still amazed that you can buy 997.1 GT2s under $150k ever (even though that is exactly how I bought mine). It's such a rare and special car, and the build numbers are just so low. I love to see them appreciated for what they are!
