V1 hardwire

There is a fuse with a wire attached that you can get to tap into the fuse box. I may go that route since the area in the dome light looks tight. Does anyone know where I can get one?

To my knowledge RS does not have self dimming mirror. There might be wires that you can pick up in that over head cluster but I wired my RS (both 997.1 and 997.2) into the fuse box in the driver's side foot well, up the A pillar, across the top of the windshield (under headliner) and to the rear view mirror. Only minor challenge is removing the head liner trim piece above the driver's side door to access the A pillar for the wiring run from the fuse box.

I did it last night. Yes you can definitely tap into the light cluster. Use the brown wire with white stripe for hot. It is on/off with the ignition. The only thing that you will have to deal with is that the detector will go off when you open the door, but most of the time you aren't driving with the door open
Then if you pull out the door opener eyes behind the light cluster, there are two screws. You can remove the whole dome area once those are out and stuff your wires behind that area. Use the screw for the dome area as your ground. Works perfectly.
Edit: After doing the above installation, I didn't like the way the V1 on/off worked. If you use the brown wire with the white stripe from the dome light cluster, just know that it's not on/off with the ignition. If you leave the car in your garage unlocked, the V1 will stay on. Plus it's a little goofy that it goes off every time you open the door and back on when you close it. So, I just ran a hot wire down to the fuse box and tapped in there. Someone here did a write up on it and there is an empty slot along one of the lower rows that is definitely keyed to the ignition.
