No reserve? That's bold based on what he claims to have into it.

I recently sold this to make room for another car. I already miss mine. This green one is much nicer. 350HP on a 1986 pound car--not bad! How can you tell this is a no reserve auction?

Unfortunately, I did. Why do you think I am eying the green one on eBay. This is at least the second time it's being listed recently. I wonder if there really is no reserve.

If it weren't for this, I would not be able to contain my sorrow

Got to read the 'fine' print

"By bidding on this item you are entering into a legally binding contract. This car is being sold with no reserve, so ask questions before you bid. Seller has the right to cancel this auction at any time. The winning bidder will have 3 days to contact seller and send a 25% deposit. The balance will be due within 7 days from the close of auction. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Seller will help arrange shipping if needed."

Boy, I love the green on it. For no reserve, yes, quite a risk. I think that someone will get a good deal if it is what he says it is.

So, does that mean he can cancel AFTER the auction ends if he doesn't like the final bid (or in the last 5 minutes, say?). I can't see that helping eBay's credibility, but I never really thought about it before. Doesn't seem right to me if that's what the implication is.

No Reserve means that he doesn't have a base price before it will sell. He is essentially risking the car sell for far less than what we would like to get it for. Not that he couldn't not honor the agreement and back out as I'm sure there is almost zero recourse through ebay. It is my understanding he can cancel prior to the auction ending, but would be responsible to sell the car if there is a bidder at auction end.

No Reserve auctions get people pretty fired up, as there is a chance to get something at a great price. Gets people involved in an auction they might not have bid on otherwise. Once committed, the excitement and initial bids get them emotionally invested and they eventually bid well over the reserve anyway.

I predict this car will sell for far more than where it at now. Otherwise the seller would really be taking it in the shorts. It will probably remain where its at now, and then 2 or 3 serious bidders will battle it out in the last hour.

Beautiful car. Somebody sent me the link a few days ago. I'm guessing it would be a handful on the track.
